So you might recall that we had a reorg at my job recently BUT I was told I can't get a promotion out of it even tho I had been working towards one and even tho I'm taking on more responsibilities and got a title change, because the "reorg" was "just a realignment."
So today, we just got word that this dude in another section got promoted. Because of the reorg. The email said, "as part of the realignment efforts, Dude Guy has been promoted to ___."
I feel like burning shit down. I've already talked to HR about this. What do I do now? Go to HR again and call them out? The Chief of Staff was in charge of this realignment- do I go to him? Do I mention the word "sexism?" Talk me down - I can barely see straight right now.
I would update your resume and start looking elsewhere. Even if, best case scenario, they gave you a promotion, you'd never forget the circumstances. Nor should you.
Don't do anything rash. Except, of course, updating your resume. Time to find a new job. In a backwards way they are giving you feedback that you will not be promoted there. Take the advice and leave. And eff them.
