Waiting for DH to come in; he's finishing up some landscaping. DS is in bed and I'm ready to PART-AY (as in, sit on the couch under a blanket and watch tv with a snack). <)
We're on our way home from Sacramento. I didn't realize how much I missed it until we got here and I don't wanna go.
That's always hard...sorry. Sounds like it was a good time. What is your favorite thing about Sacramento?
Mostly that my family is here. Also it was 110 on Wednesday and it was nothing compared to 95 and humid at home. I pointed and laughed at everyone complaining about the heat.
Kids are in bed ( awake), but they are watching a show as a treat. DHis putting together my new and first ever Dyson. Will cleaning suddenly be fun now?!
I love my Dyson. I was so amazed with mine my grandma got one. She said "it's the best vacuum she's ever used. " lol
We just got back from a pool party with DS soccer team the boys had a great time and I love the moms. We are adding 5 new boys and I am a little nervous about the change in dynamic not to mention the coach is pretty intense. He is amazing and it works for us but this could get interesting.
We got home at about 8 after being at DH's boss's house all afternoon for his annual group pool party/bbq. The kids passed out in the car, they were so exhausted from swimming all day and I'm not far from it. The dynamic of these dorky chemists playing in the pool with their kids, drinking beer, having cannonball contests with each other and ragging on their boss was pretty interesting & funny to watch.
I think DD2 has officially learned to swim, though. She was jumping off the diving board like a maniac.
We're having a crazy night here. I'm writing vocabulary tests, dh is fixing our desktop computer (aka photo storage which ALWAYS freaks me out!) and the kids are asleep. We had church earlier this evening and the kids were exhausted from a fun, hot day outside. I'm drinking ice water with a lime in it and thinking about asking dh to make me a slice of sourdough toast with peanut butter.
The kids and I spent the day at the pool with friends and are now hanging out in their backyard watching "Home". They have a projector and hooked it up to watch the movie on the back of their house. Trying to soak up the last few days of summer. I go back to work Monday and the kids start school the next Monday.
I am at a cocktail party at Cheryl Strayed's house. Wha???
You win! Thread done. Have a blast and please details tomorrow!
Okay, that was probably the most awesome, most random evening that I have ever had. Earlier this week, a friend of mine texted to see if I wanted to go to a "book party" tonight. It was a crazy week, the only parts of the text that really registered were food, wine, and no kids. Done. Sold. So on the way over tonight she causally said something it's at Cheryl Strayed's house. Even that didn't register, though it was starting to. It wasn't until I was in her gorgeous house shaking her hand that I was like "WHAT??!!!" My friends is her kids' teacher, and she occasionally hosts these evening where she invites a couple of authors with recent works to come and read and everyone else enjoys the amazing literature and drinks wine. We listened to Lisa Glatt read from The Nakeds and Meghan Daum read from The Unspeakable, both of which I now have signed copies of. And I talked to Cheryl Strayed about kids and traveling and being a stay at home mom. And then I talked to her husband about Greenpeace and drilling in the arctic and public schools.
