However the short ribs were so expensive It was $49 for the 6lbs of short ribs and I only got 1.5lbs of meat off of them. Any suggestions on how to substitute a cheaper cut of meat? I was thinking chuck roast but wasn't sure how many pounds.
I've done this with a chuck roast. I just threw all the ingredients in the crockpot. Same flavors, just cheaper and easier.
I did this on Monday!!! I read in the comments of the NNP post that someone suggested this. I made them with the short ribs last week and I felt like I was dealing with ham hocks! Soooo much time to pull apart the fat, the bone and the meat, and for the cost, it's not much meat. The chuck roast is by far the only way I'm going to go! I think I might double the sauce next time, though.
