DH and I got through 2.5 episodes of season 8 of doctor who. Meeting a new doctor is always strange but it's fun to be watching again! I don't really miss Matthew Smith.
I liked Matt Smith well enough, but I really love Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, so I don't miss him much, either. But Tennant will always be my Doctor
I fail at parenting today. It's hot, DH has been working in the nursery, and my sciatica is really bad. I've pretty much been sitting on the couch trying to encourage DS to play on his own. It's been maybe 50% successful and the other 50% is me getting annoyed because he wants to sit with me/hug me/wrestle me.
I should be cherishing these last few weeks of him as an only child and instead I am just a grouch. :/

chickens987, that's brilliant, but would never work for us. DS is pretrified of the vacuum. At the last pedi appt, there was a question, "is your child afraid of every day noises like the vacuum." I circled "yes" and added a comment, "but it's not an everyday noise in our house."
browneyedgirl9, were you the one who rec'd ?Mr. bubbles. Our J&J bubble bath finally ran out and we used the Mr. bubbles tonight -life changing, lol!
In other news, I was online at 8am to register my 1 year old for swim lessons. By 8:02, he got the second to last spot for his session. By 8:03 it was a waitlist. Holy crap, I didn't expect this kind of craziness with a 1 year old!

I love that this post had Doctor Who conversation in it. I cannot wait for the new season. Although I wish they'd get rid of Clara. She's just not doing anything for me.
DD didn't nap at all today and she's trying to fight bedtime sleep now, too. GO TO SLEEP, KID. Momma needs a break. And chocolate. And french fries. Okay, those last two might be the pregnancy cravings talking.
We are in NH for a short vacation. The girls cried on and off for 30 mins before finally falling asleep. I think they are overtired (didn't nap well) and we forgot advil until right before we out them in the pack n plays so it hadn't started to work yet and they are cutting 4 teeth right now.
We are having tons of fun though and I'm excited for tomorrow!

Poor A had a rough day today.
Her morning started off with her falling off the side of the couch and splitting her lip. I didn't see it, I was still in bed, but it completely traumatized my H. She was fine, but a little more cuddly than normal.
Add to that she has been picky and not really eating veggies the last few days, and had some minor constipation. We got some prunes and gave her two this afternoon as well as ply water as much as possible. Fast forward to bedtime...she just wouldn't settle down. I poked my head to tell her to settle down about 45 minutes after we put her down and happened to get a whiff in the room. I proceeded to call my H to get his opinion about the smell. As he came to join me, she started to cry.
Yup, BIG poop, that was why she couldn't settle down.

So our yard is basically over run with weeds. I've been trying all summer long to pull them. Usually I take the weeds and toss them out, but occasionally I'll leave them inn the grass. My husband informed me that is why our yard is so bad. Apparently plants that haven't seeded yet magically drop seeds when they are pulled from the ground.

DD1 (3.5) moved up another level at swim lessons today which is so awesome, but I seriously might have to close my eyes during her next lesson when they start teaching her to swim half the width of the pool under water (like entire body underwater like coming off a flip turn). She's still a baby to me!
Our little DH chosen adventure this morning was not to Baltimore but Annapolis. On the way home, he said "road trip, on the water, brunch, farmers market, arts festival, ice cream... That's pretty much everything you like..." Yep.
DD took a huge spill on her scooter today. She and DS rode ahead of us at the park and tried to ride down a hill. She took the skin off of both knees, both palms, two fingers, and her chin. She also has one long cut along her arm where it must have come in contact with the edge of the scooter. As far as we can tell she has no broken bones and we feel incredibly lucky for that.
I had a bad parent moment though. I totally lit into DS over the fall. They had been scootering together and we came upon DD at the bottom of the hill, surrounded by other people with no DS in sight. I was so mad that he had clearly scootered on and not at least gone back to see if she was okay. When we got everything calmed down I had to apologize profusely to him. He didn't realize she had fallen and was really shaken up over it. He's only 8 and it's not his responsibility.
On top of all of this, I picked up one of our cats from the vet today and it looks like we're going to need a consult with an orthopedic surgeon. Her knee has popped out and x-rays revealed severe arthritis :-(.

I HATE these stupid "send me your address invitation if you want to be invited to my baby shower" posts. OMG NO! I refuse to do this, even though this is my cousins girlfriend.
I have felt like crap all day. Threw up last night and this afternoon. I'm wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt and am under the covers and I'm still cold. Finally DH told me to just go to bed so I've been up here since about 5. I'm so hungry but afraid to eat anything. This sucks.
DS finally went to bed after 2.5 HOURS of near-solid talking, yelling and screeching. The silence is so strangely wonderful. I always thought four months was still very infant like, but it's not! He's like a grown up baby! It's weird how they go from lumps to standing in the exersaucer chatting away and having very defined personalities in four short months.
We made some progress on the front yard today. We are tearing out a huge patch of ivy and will be installing a decorative rock wall, an ornamental tree and some bushes and reckoning some of the space as lawn. Almost all the ivy is gone and we've tiled most of the soil. I can't wait to be done!

1) yay you're back!
2) I totally agree. A friend from HS did this and when I didn't respond she sent me a message asking for my address. She is throwing the shower FOR HERSELF and its her 3rd.
DS2 says the weirdest phrases, out of nowhere. They are so random and make no sense. At the grocery store yesterday he just blurted out, "STOP FOLLOWING ME, SANTA" and tonight when he was washing his hands he was like, "I'm a mess because I drank beer." What?
Sometimes when L does this, I worry that she is forgetting words or losing her mind...but nope. Normal weirdness

I'm starting to warm up to Capaldi. It's hard b/c David Tennant was "my doctor." Capaldi seems like a cranky grandfather LOL.
I have organized and purged the entire upstairs of my house this week. I am working on the living room now. Once I am done I may pay someone to deep clean or do it myself. I have been dusting as I go, but there is so much more to do.
Yesterday, A rode her brother's small bike with no training wheels. Today she figured out how to ride her bigger bike. I am amazed with how much progress she has made in two days. It will be a long time before she can ride as transportation, but as far as going up and down the alley, she is almost there.
