I've been subsisting off of these for breakfast ever day this entire summer. I make them with sharp cheddar cheese, mayo, a bit of horseradish spread, and lettuce (and tomatoes obviously).
YES! I'm really excited that so many of you know and love the tomato sandwich! Fresh tomato + mayo + S&P + white bread (lightly toasted for me). Mmmmmmmmm.
Now I need to try a pickle sandwich. I'm skeptical, but I'll do it.
A tomato sandwich is heavenly, but it really has to be fresh, summer tomatoes from the garden - not waxy winter ones. And the sandwich is usually open-faced.
My favorite summer sandwich, second goes to a cucumber sandwich or a soft shell crab sandwich. MMmmm. When I feel fancy, I throw a basil leaf or two in my tomato sandwich.
