The Keyhole Dress + Cardigan?

If you own the keyhole dress from Lands End, what cardigan do you pair it with?? I just got the dress in black and navy but all of my current cardigans are hitting at a weird spot on my hips and make the dress look sloppy. The dress looks amazing without a cardigan but I have to cover my shoulders at work. Also do you machine wash your dress or dry clean only?

I have a LE sheath dress without the keyhole and I typically wear Halogen cardigans from Nordie's with them.
