ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — beer (or three) a day apparently keeps the doctor away.
The secret to long life is High Life — or basically just drinking water.
A New Jersey woman who turned 110 on Saturday credits her longevity to two things: believing in God and popping the "champagne of beers" daily.
"Ain't no secret, just keep in touch with God and do the right thing," Agnes Fenton told ABC 7 from her Englewood, N.J., home where she celebrated her birthday party in a wheelchair. "That's all I know."
The supercentenarian, who has been making headlines for her old age and infinite wisdom since her 105th birthday, had previously told ABC that she cheats death by downing three bottles of Miller High Life and a glass of whiskey every day.
The daily diet of booze started about 70 years ago when a doctor told Fenton her only serious health problem was a benign tumor, the news station reported.
He gave her one piece of advice before sending her home: "He said, 'Agnes, you must drink three Miller High Lifes a day.'"
Fenton dutifully and happily adhered — even throwing in some Johnnie Walker Blue Label into the mix — for decades.
But her caregivers recently nixed alcohol from the daily routine since she eats less now, according to The Record.
Fenton is still eternally grateful to wake up every morning, she told the local paper.
"When I was 100 years old, I went to the mirror to thank God that I was still here. And I thank him every morning," she said.
"He gave me a long life and a good life, and I have nothing to complain about."
I really want to drive to englewood and hide a case around her room were she can get them. At 110 she should get all she wants. Quality at this point not quantity. My grandpa was on a liquid diet at the end and he begged me to bring him a sandwich. I was young at the time and didn't think I could blow off doctors orders. He died the next day, I wish I would have gotten him the sandwich, its a real regret.
