My 11 month old was diagnosed with coxsackie and an ear infection today. She is so uncomfortable and has been crying in her bed with various combinations of me and H trying every soothing tactic we can think to no avail for the past 4.5 hours. She is medicated with Tylenol and Motrin (and abx for the ear infection). I just left the room since my presence wasn't helping and now she's crying alone . I'll go back in in a few minutes and just hold her while she cries. I don't know what else to do. It seems the mouth sores are the cause of her main discomfort. Is there anything else I can do? She has been awake all day long and is so exhausted.
Oh man, coxsackie is awful, I'm so sorry I know when I had it the ped had ms gargle with some combo of mylanta with benadryl but obviously she can't gargle. Did your ped mention anything about a small dose of benadryl? If not I might call and ask - it might help her keep calm enough to rest some. Maybe a pedialyte popsicle?

Thanks- I already have a call in. She won't even let me look in the vicinity of her mouth and Im surprised the neighbors didn't call the cops the way she screamed when I had to give her medicine. I'm going to see if I can find someone to do a Target run for me with ice pops and Benadryl.
