I have a therapist appt today to restart EMDR. It's stressing me out because it always brings up so much childhood crap. Then I feel so sad for the rest of the day. I know that I need to do it. And long term it's so good for me. But I still dread it.
DD did not nap yesterday and was up 1 1/2 hours early this morning.
I get a 2 hour break today, in which I have to take calls in my car and work at Panera instead of getting the pedi I planned before having my niece this afternoon, so no chance that dd will nap today (and worthless if she did because my niece never stops talking so I can't get anything done that requires focus).
I'm ready to cry uncle. School needs to start. Summer sucks.
I'm trying to come up with a plan for the day and it's hard to do a whole days worth of entertaining without a lot of TV or leaving the house.
If you have an empty milk jug, cut a smallish hole in the top and a somewhat larger hole on the side. Set him up with toys that will fit through the top. DS spent A LOT of time playing with that the other day.
Also, if you have contact paper around, tape it sticky side up on a table. Give him cut up pieces if contraction paper to put on it. That should also entertain for a bit.
Eta - tape a tube or tubes from toilet paper or paper towel rolls on the wall like pipes and let him slide things through them.
Good luck! Thinking of you!
Good ideas! Ive got some busy bags & reusable sticker pads I forgot about so I'm going to pull those out too.

There's a boy at daycare who is maybe 3-4 months older than T and she talks about him all the time at home. Today he pulled into the parking lot next to us and his mom said he yelled "That's my Tessa!!" <3

I can't remember how old your child is, but how about doing an extended bath? That can kill a lot of time and wear them out. Play doh? Finger paint? Do you have an old cardboard box? For some reason, DS will spend forever decorating and playing with old boxes. When DS was smaller sometimes we would make a "zoo" and set up his stuffed animals around his room.
He is 19 months. Thanks to Crayola bath drops and 2 tubs of water he took a 45 minute bath last night!
I do have finger paint but have been too scared to use it. Maybe in ziplock bags a la pinterest?

I'm thinking about buying a used City Select. Anyone want to weigh in? DD really likes the stroller still and I'm not sure if this baby will like to be worn (DD did not). She is still not great walking by herself because she's slow and I don't trust that she won't run into traffic.
I can't believe how many schools are starting today here! Makes me sad, I 'only' have 3 years before DD starts kindergarten. But she's off for the next couple of weeks so I'm sure by then I'll be ready for her to go back to preschool!
I ran this morning, I'm having a good hair day, it's Christmas at work (the iPads we ordered and were delivered back in December have been held hostage by our IS dept since, but are now in our hot little hands), I have a light afternoon, and a work function at a baseball game this evening. And I'm having hot dogs and mac and cheese (mixed together, duh) for lunch. Today is a good day.
I'm sitting at the OB's office waiting for my appt. 38 weeks tomorrow. Yay for cervical checks! :/ But I am sincerely interested to see how much has changed (if anything) since last week.

I am so ready for DD1 to go back to school. I will miss her, but she has been so whiny and full of attitude lately. I think she's nervous about a new class and new teacher, so as soon as we can get her into her new schedule, I'm hoping she'll be normal again.
Also, DD1 keeps requesting "pajama days" this week. Her favorite thing in the world is to not leave the house all day and never change out of her nightgown. I've let her do it once already this week, and I think I'll let her do it today. I feel like she's about to have to be up and dressed for school early, so she should enjoy not having to do that this week. But now I'm facing another day of entertaining both kids at home all day.
I had a really emotionally draining conversation with my aunt last night.
She's married to one of my crazy mom's brothers and is really the only one I've been able to confide in and talk to about our estrangement within the family. Turns out her DH, outwardly a great and normal guy, is surprisingly similar to my mom and she's had a tough road with 40 years of marriage to him . Wtf happened in their childhood? My grandmother had crippling anxiety and it seems to have trickled down and ruined everything.

Do it in the tub. Leave him in a diaper (don't ask why I recommend that) and let him finger paint on himself and the tub. Then run a bath and have him clean up all the paint with a wash cloth. I used to be able to kill an hour that way when DD1 was his age.

DD has figured out for the first time that when the babysitter shows up, it means I'm leaving, so commence crying as soon as she walks through on the door.

Yes to finger paint in a ziploc! Also, what about a water station? Fill up a rubbermaid box with a little water and measuring cups. N will play in that FOR.EV.ER.
He also loved playing with old wipes containers and filling them up with little toys or cotton balls. Pretty much anything he could push through the rubber part.

Trade kids for a day? My kid brings me his shoes every morning by 6:30 or 7, saying, "go, go, mama, go? Out? Go! Car!"
I ran around like crazy all day yesterday. Walked the dog, kids got haircuts, lunch with DH at work, dropped the kids off at my moms, haircut and color for me, blood draw at the lab, dinner out with friends.
I was so swollen and tired yesrerday. And then I slept funny last night and my side is killing me now. Ugh!
Luckily my mom is taking the kids to the movies this morning and I just get to plop myself on the couch and catch up on my last WFH tasks. And dr. appt. this afternoon.

I think we have an empty Rubbermaid storage box in the garage so I'll check for that at nap time. DS loves water!
Some of the busy bag/boxes I have are similar to this. I have pipe cleaners, Popsicle sticks and Pom poms all in old puffs containers and he likes to push them through holes I cut in there. Or pull strips of fabric out of an old wipes container.
FTR, I recommend seeing if the place has Kaliber. It's another non-alcoholic beer (made by Guinness) that I feel like people don't know is N/A. At least I got away with it at two events when I was newly pregnant.
Be careful with this! I got called about by 3 different people when I tried to be all incogneato with my Kaliber, lol.
Haha, nice. The first time I had them pour it into a pint glass, because I was around people who would notice. The second time my friend asked what I was drinking and if it was a kind she would like. I told her it was too dark for her and she should probably stick with the ciders she usually orders. lol It worked!
DD got so upset at bedtime last night that she puked all over her bed The reason? She wanted a diaper instead of a pull-up, and then when we put the diaper on, she wanted the pull-up instead. If she is this melodramatic at 2.5, I can't wait for the teenage years...
I saw a thread a couple weeks ago on ML about a British show called Peaky Blinders, didn't think anything of it. . .then I found out that Tom Hardy was in season 2 so I decided why not watch it? Well, I've watched all of season 1 right now and I am now adding Cillian Murphy to my list. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I have a half day and I can binge watch season 2 with both Cillian and Tom.
I think I have a crush on Cillian Murphy's character, which makes me feel weird because hello unhealthy relationship. I think Cillian Murphy himself is a little too hairless or something for me.
I love the show but Grace's modern hairstyle bugs me. Ada and the aunt have period-appropriate styles and the guys all have their weird haircuts and in walks Grace with a highlighted lob.
