I saw a thread a couple weeks ago on ML about a British show called Peaky Blinders, didn't think anything of it. . .then I found out that Tom Hardy was in season 2 so I decided why not watch it? Well, I've watched all of season 1 right now and I am now adding Cillian Murphy to my list. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I have a half day and I can binge watch season 2 with both Cillian and Tom.
I think I have a crush on Cillian Murphy's character, which makes me feel weird because hello unhealthy relationship. I think Cillian Murphy himself is a little too hairless or something for me.
I love the show but Grace's modern hairstyle bugs me. Ada and the aunt have period-appropriate styles and the guys all have their weird haircuts and in walks Grace with a highlighted lob.
I think it's his character too, because before this I couldn't decide if he was creepy or attractive, lol. True, I didn't really like Grace's hairstyle, and my DH asked how the guys cut their hair like that back then, lol, with it shaved on the sides and the mop on top. I told him they had razors back then, hence the razors in their hat bills, lol. I like the guys suits, but the the pants are too high, ha, and a lot of the camera shots start at their feet (especially when they are in groups walking) so I couldn't help but notice.
A couple of hours after DD went to bed last night she started yelling for me. We went in and she said, "Did you just say sink? I don't want to sink in the fountain!" We laid her back down and said goodnight (and she replied back to us) and that was that. She must have been dreaming but it was weird how she seemed like she was perfectly awake when she was talking to us.
@this, that is so sweet. Edelweiss is our bedtime song as well and last week when DH and I were on vacation, my mom showed DD the movie clip of the Captain playing his guitar and singing it for the first time. She absolutely lit up and started singing along - so cute. We've now also introduced Do Re Mi and My Favorite Things to the song repertoire
My cousin registered at RH and BBB. Everything is $$$$ and no, I don't want to buy sherpa baby booties for $25. I'm at a loss because I don't want to buy off registry but this is going to be HARD. I'm all for buying quality stuff but things she registered for are not things I would have picked. I did a ton of research and it seems like she just picked the most expensive things.
DS is saying mama now. <3 It comes out as baba but whatever.
I'm back to work today and sat down with my new project lead. She basically laid it out that she's looking for her replacement and it's slated to be me. I don't have to decide right away (I haven't even met the full team yet) but looks like this is my gateway to a promotion. The transition is likely to occur at the end of the year which may throw a wrench into our TTC timetable.
I'm thinking about buying a used City Select. Anyone want to weigh in? DD really likes the stroller still and I'm not sure if this baby will like to be worn (DD did not). She is still not great walking by herself because she's slow and I don't trust that she won't run into traffic.
I loved my City Select! It was pretty easy to get in and out of the car and into stores, etc. I also liked that I could use it as a single when I only had one kid with me. The only thing I didn't love it for was walking/jogging on the sidewalk. Since it's longer than a single or a side-by-side, it was sometimes difficult to maneuver when the sidewalk wasn't totally flat. I'd still buy it again though.
So I came home to a ridiculously messy apartment after leaving DH here to his own devices for a month. (In all fairness, he was working a lot.) I *thought* I ordered a Swiffer Wet Jet with this week's drugstore dot com order that I arrived yesterday and spent the morning looking for said Wet Jet in every closet and corner of my apartment. I had a vague recollection of taking it out of the drugstore dot com box yesterday.
Turns out that I searched my online order and I didn't actually order it. Because drugstore dot com doesn't actually carry the Wet Jet starter kit. So I made all of this up in my head and involved DD and DH in my frantic search this morning.
My brain is absolutely fried. No idea how I am going to get back to work next week.
H and the boys just dropped into my office for a visit. Apparently they were bored because it was crappy outside, so it was a nice surprise! But now I'm completely done with my productive morning and can't get back on track. Oh well.

That dress is really cute, @mrswindycity. Go for it!
My kid is trying to kill me, I think. He's a little over 10 weeks and won't sleep past three to three-and-a-half hours at night on his own. Last night, he was up at 1:30, then he woke up and was fussing at 3, but I got him to stay in bed until 4. And then he was awake at 6. The hell kid! I am getting maybe an hour of sleep in between wake ups right now. This has to stop, because I go back to work in 2 1/2 weeks, and I cannot function if this is still happening. My husband offered to take him at the 4 o'clock one, but I was all martyr-y about it because I'd already gotten up, changed him, and was getting ready to feed him. Offering then is not helpful, asshole! Offer before I get out of the damn bed. I suspect kiddo is having a growth spurt, and he's just still too small to sleep for longer stretches (he was just under 8 pounds at his last check-up a couple of weeks ago), but oh my god, you're killing me buster!
Also, our neighbors sent us a passive-aggressive email about the fact that the trees along our back fence and dropping leaves and branches in their yard. My husband is all pissed off - neighbor offered to "help", but the trees are like 12 feet tall! Do you have have a cherry picker? No? Then stop. I get that it's a giant pain to clean up leaves, but that's kind of what trees do. And I'm guessing you don't complain about the shade in your yard. We had the tree company come over here for an estimate and the woman was baffled as to how neighbor thinks we're going to be able to prevent it, short of ripping out the trees. These people are already on my list because about 2 weeks after we moved in, they sent an email complaining about the fence between our yards (in FUCKING WINTER, when there was still like 3 feet of snow on the ground - wtf do you want us to do then, chuckles?), and a few weeks after that sent us an estimate for a new fence they were buying that was like "hey, we got an estimate and if you're willing to chip in, this is what you owe." So yeah. I hate them. But we'll get our trees pruned and spend more money to shut them up.

I am having trouble trusting the breastfeeding process with DS. I have no reason too as he (last time I checked) gaining 1oz a day. But he sleeps so much more than DS2. I feel like I am always waking him to feed so my boobs don't explode. Like last night he woke up 2 times. He is a newborn shouldn't it be more? This probably sounds like a bragplaint but it makes me paranoid (DS1 at every 2 hours on the for forever). I am haven't been able to let DS2 go now than 3-3.5 hours yet because it makes me worry.
Oh and with DS2, who took long naps in the AMs, I would use the hand pump a lot in the beginning - not so much that I had oversupply issues, but enough to relieve engorgement and to keep my supply steady.
I did this with DS1. Not because he slept long stretches but because I was so engorged every morning it was nice to express a little milk w/O much effort.
karinothing did your pedi say to wake him? I never woke Will to feed and he slept a lot in the beginning (he was back to his birth weight pretty fast though). Like at night he was sleeping 5 or 6 hours almost from the start and I just let him sleep. After the first two weeks or so I started tracking his feeding. One of the books I had said that he should be eating 8 to 10 times a day so I fed him every two hours during the day to try to get there. but he would sleep from 10 pm to 3 or 4 am most nights. And I think B only woke up 2 or 3 times a night initially .
So I think it sounds like S is pretty normal, especially if he is gaining weight. I wouldnt worry.
She did, but due to jaundice issues. His eyes are still somewhat yellow so not 100% comfortable not waking him yet. It is hard going from a mini baby to a regular size one. He is also a efficient nurser. But it sounds like I should enjoy the sleep while it happens.
The offender was in our wedding and once went to great lengths to try to get me a job. But he's anti- gay rights and, of course, anti-choice and I just CANNOT with this bullshit.
I HATE the Director at my sons preschool. LIKE HATE. I am so BEC with that woman it is unbelievable. I like the teachers and the curriculum but the director and board director are both nasty pieces of work.
Confession : I have considered removing DS from a school he otherwise likes over not liking the director.

DD slept all the time as a newborn, and I remember worrying because DS had not been like that. I swear it seemed like she would eat quickly for a few minutes (she was efficient), then sleep. On the upside, she wasn't very fussy, and she porked up extremely fast, lol. Anyway, I'm just saying it's probably just how DS2 is.
Neighbors just sold their house for 46k more than we paid for ours. Only difference is they have a 3 car garage, our house and lot are actually bigger.
