DD1 takes ballet only. It's $125 for 10 weeks of 45 minute classes. She's 5. It ends up being $375/9 months - summers are off.
For the children's group, our school is performance optional - so no additional cost for an outfit.
ETA: Our friends have their 5 year old in a combo class. It's $90/month and also runs 9 months. They tell me that it's "so cheap" at the school they go to.
Ours is 90 a month I think. All the 5 and 6 classes are combo classes at our studio. They find that kids just don't have the attention span for an hour in a single discipline.
My kid is 9 and is about to start beginning ballet. It is from 7-8 on Monday nights. It's $44/month. And then the costume is like $75 or something ridiculous.
My girls have both done dance on and off for a few years. I've always had them in classes starting after 5. They've done combo tap/jazz and combo tap/jazz/ballet and hip hop. It's always been $35-$44/month. That all said there are like 5 studios within minutes from me and we only one seems to have a good variety of classes when I need them.

Does your local parks/rec department offer classes? DD (3.5) is in a preschool dance class through a park district in a town near us ($50ish for 8 weeks, non-resident price) and it seemed like it was a cheaper option than dance schools. It looks like full-year programs for older kids run about $300-350.

We went with the cheap place. 3-4 year old class is $6/class for half hour of ballet. 4-6 is 45 minutes of ballet/tap for $9/class. We almost switched her to a place that is $56/month for an hour class a week. $50-$60/month is what's common by me.
A friend does Community Association classes with her 4 year old; they're ridiculously cheap ($35 for 10 weeks). I'd look into non-studio options if you can (the Y, community associations, etc.)
$55 a month, 1 hr of ballet, tap, tumbling a week, that's the average around my area. Costumes and recital fees are extra and honestly, I don't even look at how much because I'm sure it's ridiculous but I don't care!
Dd1 is in a combo ballet/tap class. She started last year at 3.5 and i think we're doing it again this year. It's $10 class plus the recital costume, which was $40 last year, and classes run 1x/week from Sept to mid June. The class is 45 min long.
DD is 4 and takes a 45-minute combo ballet/tap once a week. It's $33/month, plus $20 registration fee and $40 costume.
We are in a relatively LCOL area, and we go to the "budget-friendly" dance school in town -- there are several others that charge $75+/mo for comparable classes.
