A local furniture store that has higher end things had a July 4th sale- 20% off everything. They never have sales. I bought a beautiful table and 8 chairs. I asked how long they would take to get in and the woman tells me a few weeks as they usually keep these in stock and she would call me and if I don't hear from her in two weeks to call her.
I called two weeks after I ordered because I hadn't heard from the store. Sales woman says the table is in but the chairs are on backorder. She said she could deliver the table at least. Great. Table is delivered.
I called again and chairs are still backordered 3 weeks after ordering.
She calls me today and says chairs are in- 4 1/2 weeks after ordering. Great. Delivered today and only 6 of the 8 are delivered. The other 2 are backordered . I haven't talked to the saleslady, only the delivery boy. I am going to call her but I feel at this point I want to ask for additional compensation, considering it will be 3 deliveries in order to get my order complete. but then again I already got a really great discount on the table and chairs..
Did you pay a delivery fee? If you did then I think it's reasonable to ask for that to be refunded.
My philosophy on stuff like this is, if you have a reasonable complaint (which I think you do) then it can't hurt to ask. I try to stay pleasant and say something along the lines of "I love the table and chairs, unfortunately I am disappointed in the lack of communication concerning my purchase being back ordered and that after 4.5 weeks my order still isn't complete. I would like to continue to give you my business and I am sure you understand my frustration but is there something you can do to help ensure that this won't happen again?" Perhaps refunding the delivery fee?
Did you pay a delivery fee? I would ask for that waived.
And I would call the store and talk to the manager. Stop dealing with the sales person.
This. I don't know why you'd be owed any $$ on top of the delivery fee, TBH. Is this all a pain? Absolutely. And I don't fault you for complaining. But I don't really see why you should be owed $$ for stuff you ARE actually getting.
Nah, I'd probably be annoyed though (as long as they're not charging you for the subsequent deliveries). They told you an estimated time frame but furniture tends to take forever. At least it's not like you're short 2 chairs for Thanksgiving.

This is timely for me as I have (my first) furniture delivery tomorrow. Are you supposed to tip the delivery men? If so, I would definitely ask for the fee to be refunded because you are having to tip three times!
i'm assuming all subsequent deliveries are free so i wouldn't be so concerned about that.
are you inclined to shop at this store again? i might ask for 10-15% off my next purchase or free delivery for my next purchase. it gives you a small bonus and you're likely to get it because it either 1) doesn't get used and they aren't out anything, or 2) gets a customer through the door again.
