Is anyone familiar with Singapore math?
My DD1 is in public school, but apparently some of the private schools around here teach math using a method called Singapore math. That is literally all I know about it.
A woman in my moms group is a former teacher and is offering to teach after school Singapore math classes.
I'm pretty anti loading up 6 year olds with a ton of activities. And I'm definitely anti making her stress about school.
But she loves math and seems to be good at it.
What says MMM -- are the classes likely to be something useful and/or fun? Or basically just tutoring?
I wouldn't do it if your school isn't using that method. It's really different and if she's understanding "traditional" math, Singapore math could really screw her up.

Her school teaches math the common core way. Not sure if that's considered standard? I know it's more about teaching kids concepts and showing their work is important.
It messing up her math learning at school is one of the things I was worried about!!
I might be biased because the only things I've seen confused me. I think there are lots of ways to reinforce math - cooking from recipes and doubling or halving them, playing card games, etc. I wouldn't put her in an extra math class using a different method than school just for extra-cur.

Thanks :-)
Since I didn't know anything about it, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be depriving her of some wonderful opportunity.
It doesn't help that a lot of the other moms are like, "AWESOME! Singapore math is the greatest thing ever! Sign Junior up for twice a week!"
My kids use Singapore math and I think the curriculum is really great. However I don't think it would be all that useful if the curriculum her school uses isn't Singapore math and frankly any extra activities should be fun, especially for a 6 year old IMO not just more school.
