So these came up during the confessions thread, and I guess my confession is that I want to try them.
I Have zero interest in using the MLM company, I was harassed for weeks by some chick who spoke at a mom's group meeting - are there some other good sources for quality oils? I looked at the link in the other thread, but I don't know what to buy. Is there a good resource where I can plug in what ails me and find a solution? I'm intrigued by whatever gets rid of spiders, man. Who knew that was a thing?
Just look on Pinterest for ideas of what to use. Or ask here. I have some books so I can look stuff up.
I use young living (but absolutely do not sell it or have anyone under me). The die hards would kill me for saying this but whole foods has a small selection. Otherwise, if you have a local place that specializes in all things natural, oily, etc then try there to get some better quality oils.
I buy mine from Birch Hill Happenings and have been for 12 years. They have fantastic service and great quality. The husband and wife who run it are actually licensed aromatherapists, unlike the MLMers.

This is me too! I bought the starter kit from young living (so it technically makes me a seller) but I have never sold, nor do I plan to.... it was cheaper to buy the kit than to buy the 3 oils I was looking for. I use it for our magic sleep potion, my migraines and recently cleaning! Try it out
Do you think they actually work for using them as a kind of aromatherapy? I was looking at one that is supposed to calm kids. I was wondering about buying it for my son to help him focus in school. But am I just being an idiot?
I was a huge doubter about using oils in general but J had HFM a few weeks ago and I read somewhere to put eucalyptus on his neck to calm him. I mixed some and no joke, he instantly stopped crying and fell asleep in my arms seconds later. My H just sat there with his mouth hanging open.
I buy NOW brand. I've been using essential oils for home fragrance and some "medicinal"/stress relief uses for years. It's only in the last couple years that they've become a MLM-inflated mockery.
My favorite blend for stress/headache relief is lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus. I mix with a ton of water in a mist bottle and spray around the room, on my pillow, etc. I do tea tree and peppermint oils in water as an after-shower hair/scalp mist.
Has anyone just added a couple drops to a humidifier? The young living ones are so expensive and our humidifiers work just fine. I'm thinking a couple lavender drops in DD's would be nice at bedtime and naps.

Yep. Works well, just make sure you're cleaning as recommended.

My mom has a huge reference book that she uses to figure out what works best for whatever problem. We do tend to try them first. If they aren't helping I'm not against using conventional medicine, but I do like a more natural approach.
I'm sure this will put me on a spreadsheet, but I love a bunch of You.ng Liv.ing oils. I diffuse peace & calming and lavender at bedtime and naptime, and it totally calms my crazy energetic kid down.
And I diffuse peace &calming and Joy a lot for myself, haha.
I diffuse purification and various citrus oils when I want H to think I spent the day cleaning.
