I'm a little worried about them being too wide. DD1 is super duper skinny and we have to pull in the waist on everything she wears even if it's super slim. I don't want them to look funny all bunched up around the waist.
We do leggings from kohls and target, but they don't have adjustable waists. My kid won't wear adjustable waist anything so I safety pin them to make them small enough. It doesn't look weird and she's happy and her pants stay up.

How old? I hate to say this, but have you tried Justice? My DD1 is also super skinny (like pull the tabs almost all the way tight on a slim pant from Gap skinny). Their stuff mostly seems good on her, plus. - REAL DRAWSTRINGS!!!!
The Hanna ones are a looser legging-ish pant. The jean ones are snug on my 32lb, 38-39" 3.5 year old.
Another thing I do a lot for DS who is slim is cut a slit in the back of a fabric waist (or the fake drawstring plants) and run a piece of elastic through. Then I can get them as tight as he need.
I'm contemplating this (and even ordered a pair of cheap H&M "treggings" to experiment with) but on a scale of 1-10 (1 being sewing on a button) how hard would you rate that project? Because I can't handle anything hard.
Mini boden has knit jeans that come in different colors. They are basically thick leggings. I think they have four colors out now in the new section and also some in their clearance section.

Get a tailor to do it. It should be relatively cheap.
