I accidentally mixed one scoop of formula with three ounces of water instead of two. He drank 2/3 of the bottle. Is that okay? I'm probably being paranoid but I read about a baby dying from watered down formula.
He's fine. For weeks my husband gave DS his formula at half strength because he got confused on the math or something. When I/we realized it, I was a bit like this
Lol, H did this once and we got paranoid and made a new bottle. I'm sure it's fine though! If it's every day or something then maybe I'd worry, but once is ok!
He's fine. I've read that it's more of an issue the other way - more powder, less water - but even then, only if done repeatedly. His poop might be a smidge looser, as I've frequently seen people being told to give a little water to relieve constipation.

Why would this be? Our pediatrician had us do this on purpose to make it more concentrated so she would get more calories when she needed to gain weight.
That said @notquiteblushing don't worry! I've done that accidently! It's only a worry if parents are doing this for a long period of time probably to save money on formula and babies are getting too much water and not enough calories

Ah, it was so long ago that I read it. Something about upsetting the electrolyte balance, I think - but what I was reading wasn't talking about special situations where you're following your pediatrician's advice - just prolonged improper use.

We mix Ollie's formula to a higher calorie count. They told us that concern of going w/ too much formula is that it throws off the ratio of fat/protein/etc. They had a limit of how many calories they could mix and still keep it w/in a good range (I believe it was 27-30 calories per ounce vs 20 for how it is normally mixed -we were at 27).
