Things are looking up as of now. We met with three doctors today. No heart surgery as of now. They aren't worried about blood clots anymore, blockages or heart valve issues.
His EKG came back clear. No heart attack either. Heart function is at 68% which for his age is really normal and not concerning at all. I guess most perfectly healthy people's is only at 80plus%.
They are worried about his kidney function but don't have a baseline to go from either. They're not overly worried but checking into it.
Basically undiagnosed high blood pressure taxed his system too much, causing his heart to over pump and "fail" causing his body to fill with fluid causing a million issues.
He's in the hospital until Tuesday for further testing. They've also tried a ridiculous amount of blood pressure drugs and not one keeps his blood pressure lower and stable long enough to be effective so they're still experimenting.
I thought he was going to literally die yesterday. He looked awful, gray, pale, totally out of it. Way exhausted beyond belief. Today he was up, happy chatty, looking normal. Now he's crawling the walls bored as can be...lol.
So he's going to be okay. If my sibs and I don't kill him first. Man hasn't been to the damn doctor since 1998. How the hell does that even happen?
And how has it never occurred to him to at least stick his arm in a BP sleeve at the Walgreen's?
Glad he's doing okay. I think it's really common to take a while to get BP meds right, especially when someone is pretty sick. I'm sure they'll figure out in a few days.
