To nurse in an Ergo, I have to loosen and lower the waist strap. Once the baby is close to being in line with my nipples I can get him latched on. I have to be sure not to move too wildly but he will usually stay latched on no problem.
I also needed to wait until they were probsbly 6 or 7 months, and it was never hands free for me (but neither is nursing without a carrier). I loosen the shoulder strap on the side of the boob I'm going to use, slide my shirt up, guide baby to latch, and the discreetly hold boob in place on the side. Worked in the lillebaby or ergo.
I had the best lucky nursing in the Moby wrap, I think I had good luck around 5 months and up. I try to wear a shirt that is scoop neck or vneck. I unsnap my nursing bra, pull boob out of top of shirt between baby and chest, reach my hand in the side of the wrap and help her get latched, then pull hand out. The baby blocks the boob for the most part, and I can finish my shopping or walk or whatever. When we first tried it I would leave my hand in the side of the wrap to hold the boob in place, but now she's good at staying latched.
ETA: works well in the mei tai also, which is what I use most for short trips like grocery store now that she's too heavy for the Moby.
I could never really get it to work at any age, in my Boba carrier or my ring sling. I managed once or twice at home, but it was never very easy. I have smallish boobs, and I think that could be part of the difficulty. Another small-breasted friend told me she never could nurse in a carrier either.
YouTube will give you the theory. I could nurse in the ergo just by loosening the shoulder straps so he sunk down. Ring sling was pretty easy, either lowered or cradle. I have moderate boobs (about a 34F) and enthusiastic nursing babies.

I didn't try this until DD2 was 6 months, but now do it often and it works well. (ftr, I have huge boobs...34HH) I loosen the strap that's under my arm on the side I'm going to nurse. I wear two layers; pull up my shirt and pull down my tank and bra. I sometime use a blanket to prop by boob up. I've also heard of people not unclasping their nursing bra in order to hold the nipple up higher.
I usually bend over a little so that DD's weight isn't resting on me but on the back of the carrier, hoist my boob up, then stand up and position my boob in her mouth. I like to use one hand to kinda keep my boob in her mouth, but I'm able to do this discretely. I nurse in my beco Gemini and ring sling.
What ring slings are you using to do this? I never tried in the Ergo but should have. This baby my goal is to master the ring sling so I have 2 hands to GBCN.
I wore a Bravado tank and a long open cardigan over it. I would have to wear him kind of "low" if that makes sense (in the Ergo). My boobs are largish, I think, and pretty floppy when I'm nursing so I would kind of mash my boob toward the middle of the carrier to align with his mouth. Drape one side of the cardigan over the top of his head and voila - nursing while I shop at Target. Pretty!

Maya Wrap is a popular, easy to get brand. Sleeping Baby Productions is probably the best value for quality (but she's a one woman show so you have to watch her FB to find out when she'll open). Wrap conversions are awesome; I recommend Little Frog for not too expensive.
