What have you done to successfully get rid of them? I've never had them in the house before and they are making me crazy. We don't have anything out that they would like, so I'm not really sure why they're here.
Mixed together? I don't have dawn. Does natural dish soap work just as well? We try to be cruelty free and shit... (this does not apply to fruit flies.)
Fill a few bowls with some apple cider vinegar, cover with plastic wrap and poke a few small holes in (toothpick sized). Flies will go in after vinegar but can't get out.
Also, make sure garbage is emptied regularly, clean kitchen drains good, don't leave any produce on counter until they are gone.

I used Apple cider vinegar, but I had the best luck when I added a couple of pieces of fruit to the vinegar. I used strawberries and also bananas. They did help me figure out that DS had put a half eaten banana between our couch cushions.

I've sacrificed a small amount of red wine covered with the saran wrap and it worked well. I think any detergent will work. I think it's there to break the surface tension of the liquid so that the flies get trapped.
Ok, I made H go to the store. I dumped white vinegar down the drains and am running hot water now. I have two bowls with dish soap and apple cider vinegar. And I made sure there was nothing good in the trash, took out the compost, and rinsed the compost bin really well. Fingers crossed this takes care of the damn bugs.

This. Fruit flies looooove watermelon. I put juice, some dish soap and a piece of watermelon in a dish, cover it with plastic wrap and poke tiny holes in it.

I just put the drop of dawn in first and then pour the vinegar over top. It mixes together on its own.
