Would you sign up for the Disney credit card to get a $200 credit. Does anyone know if it has any other perks or would I be more likely to get the PIN codes if I had a card?
Also-has anyone been on a Disney cruise and want to share any tips? We'll be traveling with a 4 yr old. Will I get to select the time we board? When do I book excursions? Is there anything I should know about signing up for shows or other entertainment?
I'm no help on the cruise aspect, but I've had the regular Disney Visa with no annual fee for awhile. It's easy money but not high earning compared to some other cards. I just upgraded to "premier" with a $50 annual fee (they gave me $50 extra in rewards), but I'll earn 2% in a few more categories. I've never received a pin code, so I don't know that it's related. There are some random perks - character meets at the parks and early access to Food and Wine events that I find useful.
If I was booking a cruise I would 100 percent use an agent. I am just not familiar enough with cruising and cruises and I know Disney has some policies other lines don't have.
Disney Visa does make you more likely to get pin codes. THE BEST way IMHO to get a pin code is to go online, price 2-3 vacations and DON'T check out. Just leave them in the cart. In like a week or two I usually get a pin code that way.
ALSO Disney Visa gets you a certain percent off of purchases in some stores in park and certain restaurants.

I did this a lot before booking my trip (first time going this December!!!) and one time I got an email from Disney telling me not to forget my cart, but I never got a pin code. I also answered one of their surveys and it took forever. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Really? This triggers a pin code for me EVERY SINGLE TIME. Even if I am pricing rooms for a friend and I forget about it later. I have gotten the same pin code 2 times before.
I own DVC now so when I book a regular non DVC room I just use my DVC discount, so they are kinda useless to me at this point.
I don't know what PIN codes are, so I can't help you there. But I have been researching the best way to use CC perks for a Disney vacation, and the consensus seems to be that the Disney card is not worth it. You're better off with a generic travel card like the capital one venture. There's a lot of info if you google "how to use cc points for disney".
