A friend that we played with on Tuesday just said her daughter has HFM. We're officially under quarantine now, right? We were supposed to go see my brother and SIL Saturday, but I don't want to expose my 4 month old nephew. Drat.

I got HFM from my cousin's son. It took 2 weeks to show up. She didn't know he had it at the time. Somehow, my 8 week old daughter didn't catch it but he and I drank (accidently) from the same cup.
I would say it would be best to lock yourselves up. It is an awful awful thing to catch! I hope no one gets it!!!

My kids have played with others who later developed HFM, and didn't get it. I wouldn't go visit a young infant, but I would go about my normal routine otherwise.

This is where I'm at. If it's in the community, you going out or staying in doesn't really matter. I just wouldn't visit a tiny baby, because if my tiny baby caught that from you, I'd be soooo annoyed.

Does the fact that it was a public play date change anything? Like we went to music class and out to lunch. So aside from running around the restaurant playground together, there wasn't much actual interaction.
I would probably go about my business until/unless spots show up. It's entirely possible that you won't get it.
With a 4-month old nephew? I'd probably call the parents and see what they think. Chances are they'll tell you to come anyway. But at least give them a chance to say no, or reschedule.
