I believe it is since they have US offices with more than 50 people and he has been there about 4 years. He did not take leave after DS1 but that is because he WFH for the first 3 months. But now he is on a very demanding & awesome for his career project that has a 75min each way commute. I've got help lined up but it's not the same.
namasteak I would have H talk to an employment lawyer. It can be a dicey situation, especially at smaller companies. I forget what the FMLA minimum is. Good luck!
It could just be irritated, like the ladies who don't tear but describe it as "road rash". Do you have one of those sitz bath things that sits on top of the toilet? If you can get the EMAB postpartum herbs I would do that with Epsom salts twice a day and see if it helps.
If it continues more than 3 days I would check with your doctor.
namasteak that sounds so SO shitty. From what I've seen that's almost par for the course in a lot of corporate america unfortunately. Such BS.
I think it is pretty common too.
I also know plenty of people make this work without family or paid help. But I'm not sure how they do it!
I've always liked having a younger mom but I wish she was retired because I know she would come down to help. MIL would be more trouble than it's worth and FIL is somehow still a partner at his law firm even though he is 4 years past their forced retirement age.
namasteak well I hope this works out, you'll have to KUP. Feel better niq
Confession: I am fairly certain I am soooooo upset/overwhelmed is hormones. I think I would be upset anyways but there's a lot going on so I'm feeling anxious about almost everything. KWIM?
I need to find a PCP soon so I can get an appt for a Lexapro script quickly if I need it again. I don't want to wait as long as I did last time!
@mrsbecky - I love Odd Mom Out! Even DH thinks it's hilarious.
We are watching the Ravens game at home. We have season tickets but I didn't feel like getting a babysitter when I was hoping I'd be in labor at this point.
Tomorrow I plan on running very important errands, like getting a mani and pedi. I normally get a gel manicure but my induction instructions say no nail polish, I assume because there's a chance a c section could happen. So I haven't decided if I'll say screw it and get a gel manicure anyway. I was debating getting a bikini wax (it's been a few weeks and is time), but I think I'll save money and not care.
! I have gels and am having a c/s? I'll have to ask next week at my OB appt if this is a no no!
My OB mentioned absolutely NOTHING about nail polish or anything nail-related WRT my c/s.

That's odd, re: the polish. We have ways to work around nail polish, and we also keep remover on hand just in case.
namasteak can you start meds now? I don't want to overstep but it seems like you are having a tough time. I just don't want you to be overwhelmed by the anxiety .
This would probably be a good idea and for some reason not something I had considered.

We have lots of people coming into town for ds2s bday this weekend. I'm wfh tomorrow, thank god. Working full time is for the birds. I need to figure out how to at least get down to 4 days.
It's only a no-no because dark or opaque polish can interfere with a fingertip pulse ox. My hospital just said they would take it off for you!
Ahhhh! Noted! I was planning on getting white or coral pink on my nails anyway =)
When I was at the hospital on Sunday they had to put the pulse ox on my ring finger (which has a light glittery gold) vs any other finger (which are teal).
Why do people look at me like I have 2 heads when I say I don't like the baby stage? Yes, I know I'm pregnant and that means I will have another baby soon. But that isn't a permanent state. Kids are awesome! Babies not so much.

I got the same looks. I think people forget how hard the early months are. Neither DH nor myself like newborns and we openly admit it. The trenches are hard, yo!
A few weeks ago friend's wife posted that she was looking to sell formula she bought so I told her I would take it thinking I would get a good discount. I think I calculated the total and offered $45 since one of the things was open and one of them was a free sample. She wrote back that she had spent $165 so she couldn't sell them to me for less than $100. I thought it was a little high (maybe just about market value) but felt awkward about the whole thing and just said okay. In the meantime I thought maybe she bought super big containers and that's why it wasn't adding up. Nope. I just got it. Two containers of Similac are like $28 a piece plus four of those RTF bottles which I could get on Amazon for $8 so that totals up to $88, not including the free sample because she said in her post that she wouldn't charge for it. And I always use a coupon so I wouldn't have even paid $88. Is my math wrong or did I get ripped off? I'm so annoyed.
Not that I even need formula because Lefty just made 4 ounces of liquid gold!
But still, grr. This haul better last until Christmas now.
ETA. Okay after posting I looked again and there are 5 RTF boxes so $88+8= $96 plus she sent a separate bag of those Similac disposable nipples that she must have bought for a few bucks because the boxes usually only come with one or two. I guess she didn't really rip me off but I saved no money. And the two times I've used the disposable nipples he has vomited immediately afterwards.
If you are an at will employee who has always had excellent reviews, take FMLA and the get fired at the next review cycle despite good performance (so it's obvious it's related to the time off) can you actually retaliate?
It is possible people can be good employees for years then get fired for totally appropriate reasons, but it if it really appears to be because of time off, I would contact an employment attorney. The EEOC could be contacted somewhere in there too. I've thankfully not experienced that so I'm not sure the details.
You can get fired for totally appropriate reasons and file suit against your employer and hope they settle with you too.

I think people are just surprised about how open and honest DH and I are about hating the baby stage. They try to convince us that we are wrong. Like, "But what about when they fall asleep on your chest or that new baby smell?". Um, yeah, it's great for that hour or two a day, but the other 20+ hours generally suck and shit gets old real fast.
Or maybe they think we are crazy for having a 3rd if we don't really like the newborn stage. Um, we are thinking about the big picture people.
Our school district has a program where they have someone meet with parents of kids age 0-3 once a month.
So the lady came today and did a 6 month assessment and as I suspected, DS is a bit behind on his gross motor skills. I'm a bit bummed. I'm just hoping there's nothing actually wrong with him. He was super strong on verbal and problem solving. I guess really this sounds like me, so I shouldn't be surprised. I just hope he doesn't need any PT
In other news I am SO tired. In the last 7 days I have been to both Minneapolis and San Diego. I'm home for two weeks then Austin and LA. Blech.
I have to go see the dietician tomorrow so naturally my blood sugar numbers were like double what they should have been after dinner. Oops.
I assume you have GD? I did twice. My dietitian focused on the average of the all the numbers, rather than one specific value. So if your numbers are good overall, one bad one isn't a big deal.
