I received 2 mirrors as shower gifts but never used them with the infant seats. Over the winter I always had the carseat canopies down and just never felt like I needed a mirror. Now they're in convertible seats. I put the mirrors up and can't see them! The babies are tiny and the seats are high.
Will I want them in the future or should I get rid of them? We will have some 2 hour car rides around the holidays. Otherwise the only reason I even care to have them is to know if they fall a sleep, which is usually obvious if they're quite.
I really like ours, even now. I can see if he's getting drowsy, and can annoy the crap out of him until we get home to avoid the dreaded car nap. I think it helps if he's getting bored or fussy to be able to see us, too.
Have you tried playing around with the angle? Maybe that's obvious, but we really had to fuss with it for a long time to get it just right. I've been able to see him in any seat, any car, at any size.

We just adjusted the angle on ours to get it to the right place. I know some people don't care for them, but I love having mine. Dd eats in the car often and I like to know she's not choking.
I love mine, but have loved them since day one. I missed them so much when I was driving a rental on vacation. If you haven't wanted them yet you probably won't though.
I love mine especially when H is driving. We have it positioned so I can see DS when I sit in the passenger seat (H can also see him in the rear view mirror). I love looking back and seeing what he is doing.
I use the mirror more for DD's benefit than mine. If she can see herself, she's a happy camper. I can see her in the rearview when driving, but I have to shift in my seat or adjust the rearview mirror around if I want to see her well. Otherwise I just see the tip of her head. I don't usually look back at her though.
ETA She is behind the passenger seat. I cannot see her at all if I'm sitting in the passenger seat myself. I can't see the reflection in the flipdown mirror. I can see you having an issue seeing both kids in the rearview mirror unless they are in the middle and behind passenger. If one is behind you I don't think you have an option.
I love ours, though I did have to stuff a little dish towel behind it to get to an angle where I can see him. (Disclaimer: not sure that's 100% safe?)
Sometimes I have to move a bit to see him, but it's helpful to know if he's about to doze off one the way home. Also, my kid is vain and likes to look at himself, so it keeps him occupied.

I love ours. My kids RF until 4. It's great for seeing them and taking to them. They also use it to see the DVD player.
I'm a huge fan for another reason. I catch glimpses of my kids through out my driving. I'm sometimes on autopilot and think it helps me remember they are in the car. I worry about leaving them in the car even though it's a minor risk.

We like ours. It took time to get it positioned right, but once it's adjusted it stays put. We only have to readjust when we move the seat for some reason or uninstall and reinstall to clean the seat, or whatever. C likes to be able to see us -- he plays peekaboo.
If you're used to driving without a mirror, you might not need one or even want one. Some people like them, some don't. Can you return the ones you have?
