If you got a promotion so that you have a different title but in the same department and essentially the same job responsibilities, how would you list that on a resume?
New title - dates Old title - dates
Or new job title - all dates, then explain the promotion?
Senior Job - Jan 2015 to present Old Job - Jan 2012 to Dec 2014 Company Name
Same responsibilities. Same responsibilities. Received promotion in 2015 and assumed responsibilities for supervising stuff (or whatever the change is).
ETA in case that is not clear, write a few sentences about the responsibilities that are the same and in the description add a sentence or two about how they changed post promotion. But keep everything together.
OK, one more question. What would you do if after promotion, your department's titles arbitrarily changed. Like if you used to be called "associate" and now you're "executive" but it's literally the same job?

I'd just put the new titles down and not worry about the old ones. You can clarify on an interview.

Haha. I'm way over thinking. It's in my same department! So the person I'm interviewing with got the same title change.
Company Name, Anytown, USA April 2012 - Present Senior Analyst June 2014 - Present Analyst, April 2012 - June 2014 Bullet 1 Bullet 2 etc.
All the duties can be listed under the bullets just list the most recent ones first. You can also do:
Company Name, Anytown, USA April 2012 - Present Senior Analyst June 2014 - Present Bullet 1 Bullet 2 etc. Analyst, April 2012 - June 2014 Bullet 1 Bullet 2 etc.
Then for previous position sans promotion)
Company Name, Anytown, USA January 2008 - April 2012 Junior Analyst

Pick the one that sounds better?
I have on my resume like this: Company, City, State Senior Teapot Cozier 2002-2004 Responsible for cozying teapots, made teapots 75% cozier.
Junior Teapot Cozier 2000-2002 Cozied junior teapots etc etc.

I've always wondered* what you do. Teapot cozier sounds like a fun job!
*not really but still now I'll always think of you as the teapot cozier.
More on point, I usually see things along the line of
Company Name New Title (start date - present) Old Title (start date - stop date)
but I think most of the suggestions in this thread would be fine, and especially if it's an internal position and the interviewer will know what you mean.
