H turns 30 in December. I am trying to come up with a fun party or event for him without breaking the bank. He loves cars, sports, beer. I was thinking of doing an indoor go-kart racing event, but after looking at the prices, it will be $1400 just for 20 drivers on the track. That does not involve food, drinks, etc. I am willing to spend $1000. It doesn't necessarily have to be with others, and could be an experience just for himself, but it's 30 so I want to do something special.
A friend of mine had her 30th at an upscale bowling alley/lounge. It was awesome! We had a private area just for the party (actually a balcony overlooking the lanes) and 4 or 5 reserved lanes to play. We also had our own bar and bartender in the balcony area, and bar food-type snacks. No idea what it cost them though.
I took H and his friends to a local Dave & Busters type place and sprung for some pitchers, an appetizer spread and a couple of rounds of laser tag. Everyone had a blast. But they are all IT geeks, it doesn't take much

I'm not sure where you live, but for my 30th we rented a pontoon and boated and camped. It was a blast, but I have a summer birthday. For winter birthdays, we've rented ski cabins with a hot tub for the weekend.

We live in Chicago. He also loves to ski/snowboard as well, so I was thinking about going out west. This is not uncommon, though, and we do try to go at least once per year, so that really wouldn't be special.

i am planning a beer tasting party for my hubby's 40th. google and look on pinterest, there are a ton of ideas.
some other ideas: baseball game, or even is there a wiffle ball place near you guys? there is one around us and for a neighbors bday his wife is renting the place and they let you bring in beer, food etc.
