I was at a wedding where one of the groomsmen passed out. He had flown in from Scotland - was tired, hadn't eaten, was hot and then he locked his knees while standing there. So over he went! It was during the ceremony but I can't remember exactly when.
I nearly passed out at my sister's wedding, as MOH. I was not locking my knees. I was just tired, jetlagged, and was having a lovely cardiac event with my HR around 135. Fun times!
Those pictures crack me up. A soldier/palace guard should know better.

My friend's brother, the Best Man, went down like a rock the second they got out of the church and lined up in front for photos. It was ungodly hot in the church and all the guys were in full 3 piece suits with direct sunlight on their back and had stood through a 1 hour long religious ceremony (I remember feeling terrible for the girls in their heels too).
He had to go to the hospital and got IV fluids. They stopped the dancing at 10:30 when he showed up so he could do his speech. I felt terrible for the poor guy.

Y'know, it always makes me wonder - did the bride just not think of the heat?

It's not always the bride's fault -- FI was talking about wearing a full 3-piece suit for our wedding, and I had to remind him that St. Thomas in August will be HOT.

Omg. My friend had an outdoor wedding in July in DC at 2, FULL SUN NOT EVEN ONE LEAF TO PROVIDE SHADE.
It was at least 90. The ceremony was nearly an hour and it started late. And it was a not short uphill walk from the parking/bus drop off. I got a sunburn.
She had a margarita machine at her reception but I still haven't totally forgiven her.
She was like "I guess it was warm, but it looks so pretty in the pictures." We were not there just for the good parts in flowy white attire and high on love! Warm doesn't even begin to cover it!
Not one, but 3 of the bridesmaids (there were 11) went own at a wedding I went to. August wedding in San Antonio, no A/C in church and the girls were in heavy dresses.

I've been in the opposite scenario. One of my best friends got married in mid-December, in Maine, and we took photos outside afterwards for a loooong time. There was literally, like, 3 feet of snow on the ground and I think the temperature was in the teens. The pictures turned out absolutely magical with the fresh snow, but I think all the bridesmaids were on the verge of frostbite in our dresses.
I tease her that that was a testament of my love and friendship. Lol.

I got married in October 2007, in northeast Ohio. It was about 60 degrees. Perfect fall weather.
The week BEFORE, I had a few friends get married. It was 90 degrees!!!!! I felt so bad and also terrified for my wedding. Everyone looked like they were melting. Heavy fall dresses and full suits and expensive shrugs they'd bought for photos and it was 90. WTF, Ohio.

I used to coordinate wedding ceremonies so I had the pleasure of seeing quite a few people pass out. The best/worst was at my cousin's wedding. A groomsman passed out INTO a candelabra. Thankfully he extinguished the flames instead of lighting himself on fire. But he looked like he got punched in the face for all the post-wedding pics.
I am not a summer wedding fan. My wedding was in October and it was STILL 90 degrees. That's why, despite being in CA, I did not choose an outdoor wedding. It was in an air conditioned chapel, followed by a reception at an air conditioned tennis club.
Oh, and my bridesmaids had cocktail length dresses, so I was the only doofus in piles of floor-length satin and tulle.

They had to stop the wedding.
I need to hear more about this.
The whole wedding was a clusterfuck. Very small church and people were packed in like sardines. I lived in SA 14 years and it was probably the only building in the city without a/c. There were about 36 in the wedding party, and the bridesmaids wore heavy charmeuse gowns. They stood during the entire Catholic mass.
When the third bridesmaid went down, they stopped the wedding to let the bridal party sit during the rest of the mass.
The reception was just as bad. They ran out of food (I got nothing), the kids had their hands in the wedding cake and the beer was warm. Me and my date left and stopped to eat at Taco Cabana.
Never heard whether or not the bride received the gift I sent. I got a signed receipt from the PO, but tht was it.
