I have a meeting with a staffing agency recruiter person tomorrow. So while it's not a real job interview, I have always been told to treat it like one since this person is going to be working to get me a job, and I want them to believe that I can do the highest level of jobs I can do.
My question - I will need to walk a little bit to get to the interview, so I'd like to wear my flats, then swap over to my heels once I get to the office. Would it look really bad to carry a tote bag with me? I have the Jason Wu for Target Kitty tote, so while I think its very cute, it's not the most professional looking bag.
I also brought out a bigger purse that fits a folder nicely so that I can carry my resumes and paperwork without them getting messed up, but I don't think shoes would really fit in it. I guess for the interview, all that matters is the flats/flip flops fit, right?
Also, for people in the humid climates, any tricks to keeping your hair from looking like a damn mess 20 minutes after leaving the house? I have bangs, and I am now realizing that this is a bad idea out here because they look so bad when not all done...are los of bobby pins in my future?
Do you have a some type of folio that you could keep your papers in to make room for your shoes in your purse? I almost always do the shoes in the purse thing. I've only used a tote bag during the winter because I was able to leave it with the receptionist with my coat.
As for the hair, just use good hair spray. Maybe take some anti-frizz stuff in your purse. Mostly, I just like to get there early and go spend a few minutes in an air conditioned lobby or in the ladies room. Once I cool down, everything usually looks OK.
I have a folder to keep my papers in so they will stay nice and neat. I think if I wore some really thin flip flops, they could be tucked in the bag without popping out...my heels are a different story, but I guess it won't look completely out of place here.
I was going to wear nylons (even in this heat - I hate bare legs at interviews) so I will try my most unobtrusive flats...maybe if I squish and fold, they can also fit, though they might make my bag look lumpy.
