I've always thought of Frontier as being more like Southwest. Their pricing system has changed in the last couple of years and they now nickel & dime you for everything ($1.99 for a bottle of water on the plane; $7 to choose your seat rather than have one randomly assigned to you). I just flew Frontier roundtrip Denver/Cleveland and had no problems. The planes actually seemed newer than some other airlines I've flown recently.

I used to be a frequent flyer on Frontier, but now, I would much prefer AA or SW. Frontier just remodeled their planes making the seats thinner, cutting the tray tables in half, and removing the TVs. This, combined with all the fees ($30-$40 each flight for a carry on, come on) has made me want to avoid them at (almost) all costs.
That being said, it doesn't feel unsafe to fly with them - you won't fall out of the sky
They're not unsafe to fly, they just nickel and dime you for everything. Add on top of that that they were just rated the 2nd worst airlines behind Spirit and have awful on time ratings, I'd avoid them. (Unfortunately, I'm flying them in a few weeks, it was my only choice)
Yup . Neither of the flights I had last week had them anymore. There were literally boarded up holes in the bulkhead where they had been before. I don't think there's anyway they could fit into the new, thin seats they have now.
DH and I have been bumped or had flights cancelled with them twice in the last 6 months. We won't book with them again. PIA.
They are horrible for on time arrivals. We will never fly them again. I don't care if we have to pay double, the travel time and aggravation is not worth it.

I fly with them only because they're the only airline operating out of the Trenton airport, which is super convenient to where I live. I only use them for weekend trips, and I only take hand luggage, because they charge $35 for a carry on. It's worth it for the convenience of not having to drive to Philly or Newark.
Yeah, they used to be better but now they nickel and dime really bad. They had a pretty sick sale last week though, $15 Denver to Vegas. I got called to interview there a few months ago but decided the company has had too much bad press and I probably be happy overall
