Anyone used one of these bill cutting services like Billcutterz? You give them copies of all your bills and then they negotiate them down - their fee is 50% of what they save in the first year, which you can pay upfront or monthly. Not sure if there are other models.
I did try Billcutterz and my feelings are mixed. It took a lot more of my time than I expected -- I had to be on the line for a good amount of it. They did get some of my bills down a bit more than I could have on my own, but weren't able to get others to budge. Some of the discounts were for short periods of time.
So not terrible if you have the time to put into it -- but if you have the time to put into it you might do just as well on your own.

I used billcutterz last year and I won't again, it was fine except they told me (in an email that I still have) they negotiated the rate for two years, well they didn't, it went back up last month- I contacted them and they basically said tough, we can do it again- which I would have to pay them half of again. That was enough for me to not want use them again- saved me a whopping $60
I remember a thread about this a while (years?) ago, so I'm interested to hear the follow up.
last year! well like 13/ 14 months ago, because that's what prompted me to try it
Me too, and I'm so sorry I did. They really screwed up both my FIOS and Verizon Wireless contracts. With one of them, I don't remember which, the rep went ahead and agreed to one of the deals without my consent, and totally screwed up our contract.

They changed my unlimited data cell plan! I was so fucking pissed! They didn't have permission to do that at all. I spent so much time on the phone fixing their mistakes.
Then the bill they sent included stuff they didn't negotiate and that I had to fix back. It was a mess.
I should have reported them to my state consumer affairs dept., it was that bad.

I just went back and checked - they cut our data in half. Instead of sharing 4 gigs, they cut us down to 2 (but with a promotional gig for a year!) But...we had a plan with super low minutes because we hardly ever use any....she gave us free unlimited minutes, woohoo!! I was so pissed.
