It's funny - we got back from vacation today, & on my to do list is to get back to the attorney, since DH & I promised not to talk about this over the last week. ;-)
There are 4 neighbors currently affected by the situation (one is actually losing much more than we potentially would) & we've met a few times to discuss & talk about our options. We've all individually met with representation, & are having trouble finding an assessor that the state will agree to that doesn't actually work for them. . . if that makes sense.
I've discovered that this is a giant, long, bureaucratic process (surprise, right?) & I need to take it one step at a time & not totally freakthefuck out, because that doesn't help.
My rambling reply - our next steps are finding the assessor, getting a better understanding of the property impact, talking to our town (there's a bunch of back & forth between the Department of Transportation & the town about restrictions & access rights) & moving on to the mediation portion of the discussion. So, the fun continues. ;-)
ETA - thanks for asking about our drama. I appreciate it & forgot to provide an update
Thanks for the update. Not talking about it on vacation was a great idea, although one that I would have had trouble sticking to (my poor DH). I suspect that in some ways it is good news that other folks are also affected. Good luck!
