Hi I just got married and moved to Renton with my husband. I moved from Memphis, Tennessee so this is a big change for me! I just graduated from college in December and I have a teaching license from the state of Tennessee. I have already started the paperwork to get a Washington license and I am trying to at least start out being a sub in the Renton school district. I just wanted to see if any of you out there are teachers and have any advice for a new teacher trying to get a job and a teaching license?
I live in Kent and I also graduated in December with my teaching degree. I am currently teaching because I was hired at a school mid-year. I actually don't have advice for getting a license and there aren't many jobs. However, most positions here will require you to have transcripts and recommendation letters to apply so if you don't have those, you should definitely start tracking that stuff down so you can apply much easier.
I would just consistently check district websites for positions because they could always be popping up. It may be a good idea to try to get on some sub lists too, just in case you aren't able to find a position.
Come over to the seattle board and we can talk more!
