MrsDL, I can't speak for the accuracy of today's poll, but McCaskill was expected to lose no matter who got R the nomination.
I disagree with her on spending, and I just plain find her disingenuous. Case in point: “I think what’s startling to me is that these party bigwigs are coming down on him and saying that he needs to kick sand in the face of the Republican primary voters.”
Come on. She was one of the first tweets on the situation, and good for her, but she's treating this like a game.
Hey everybody, look at this giant asshole! He's a huge danger to women! Be outraged! Wait...what? Well, no, don't be outraged enough to kick him out of the race, just sit on that outrage until the deadline passes, then become outraged anew so that I can personally benefit. Thanks so much.
If you REALLY care about what he said, and find it horrible, scary and worth basing your vote on, then you should applaud efforts to run him out of town on a rail. McCaskill still isn't a shoo in, and I don't like you gambling with my uterus. This isn't a game, people.
If he stays in and manages to win, it will be cold comfort that he was the the most "beatable opponent."
Racegrrl, which area of MO are you in? I'm in STL and I have plenty of friends who would disown me if they realized I don't vote a straight Dem ticket like them.
And of all my close friends who ARE right-leaning, they are all the socially liberal sort (pro gay marriage, pro-choice, etc).
I've learned to just smile and nod, and keep my friends on both sides of the aisle. Well, except for the lone chick fila lover in my FB feed. I was rather blunt in my assessment of his priorities.
You are lucky. You live in one of the two blue-er (is that a word???) areas of the state (and thank god that is where a large percentage of our population lives!!!). I live in rural, Southeast MO... about an hour and a half drive south of you. It used to be more moderate around here, at least it seemed that way when I was growing up. Now it's like the Tea party took over, and not the good, fiscally conservative faction of the Tea Party, the uber-social con/Obama's gonna take muh gunzzzzz faction of the Tea Party is what we seem to have. It seems like we have a TP rally in our town at least once a month. Besides my mom and dad, I'm just about the only registered D that I know. Two of my three best girl friends (we've been friends since HS/college) are Tea Partiers. My husband just votes for whoever he thinks isn't going to take his guns. :-( I have to put in my earbuds at work when the girl sitting next to me turns on the Huckabee show and Rush Limbaugh. I have a few moderates as friends, but even they are more right-leaning than left-leaning.
So, KC and STL, I'm looking at y'all to keep my faith in humanity intact. LOL
I do a LOT of smiling and nodding, and I did a lot of weeding out of my FB feed when all that CFA shiz was going on.
