It was day 4 or 5 for me. I did give her a little formula one night because she was hungry (and jaundiced). I had her on the breast A LOT until my milk came in though.
It wasn't until day 5 with C. I had an unplanned C-section, but we nursed for the first time within 45 minutes I think. I was freaking out just like you and then it came in with a bang. lol
It's totally normal to be just getting colostrum right now. In fact, we are usually shocked when mom pumps actual milk within the first day or two at work.
I didn't get engorged at all with my second.
I pumped in the hospital and was surprised that they had me going at it for mere drops of colostrum. But looking back it makes sense.
I cried every time I pumped, because I could only get a drop or two out. But the NICU nurses were amazing, and praised even the tiniest drop, assuring me that anything I want to give him is great. I'm a sap, because just writing this makes me tear up.
7 days, on day 4 my doctor had me supplement until it came in more as DD had lost too much weight. Nothing was coming out at all. I cried when I gave her her first syringes of formula and she acted like it was the most amazing thing ever because she was THAT hungry. I felt like a complete failure.

I think it took 2-3 days? It came in fairly quickly. But my friend who had a c-section had a longer time waiting for hers, and I feel like she told me something about it maybe taking a bit longer after a c-section vs vaginal delivery. Did I make that up? At any rate, I think you're meant to just kind of let him hang out on your boob a ton to encourage milk production. Maybe ask someone to bring you some of that Mother's Milk tea or something.
It took awhile. She also lost a lot of weight at first, but gained it all back once it came in. Just keep trying. That's all you can do. You are doing awesome!
I will say I didn't pump any more than a few drops until I went back to work. I was really worried about it, but my body didn't respond to the pump until I was away from my baby for some reason. I pumped for a year after that.
