I have something important coming up on Friday, when should I do it? Wednesday? Also, how does it turn out on olive skin tones? And if I'm wearing a white dress, will I sweat color all over it?
Always do it two days before, try to find an actual airbrush tan that is done by a person not a machine. The color is better, more even and you stand a better chance of it not transferring to your dress. That being said its likely it will transfer somewhat. Be sure to do it two days ahead of time to give you at least one or two showers. If you can't do an actual airbrush, look for versa spa instead of mystic tan. Mystic smells grosser, is stickier, looks more orange than versa and tends to transfer more. . ( 5 years working for a tanning salon of experience there
Good luck! Oh you could also pick up st tropez gradual tanner in medium to dark and it better color than ANY spray tan I've had

I'd probably do it on Wednesday afternoon or evening. Make sure to exfoliate really well before you go and find out if you need to avoid moisturizers. Some moisturizers will not react well with the solution. You need to have it on for 4-6 hours to develop since it's gradual. Some will rub off on your clothes and they say not to wear anything tight and not put your bra back on since it can cause tanlines. You need to avoic getting wet or showering for the 4-6 hours.
I would not go to a booth like Mystic or Versa if you've never done it before and have an event. It's really easy for it to run and stain your hands or feet. The staining on your skin can take a lot to get it off. Get it done by hand in a spa. They will work with your coloring and make sure it doesn't have streaks or stains. It takes about 20 minutes in a spa.
I'm olive complected and it looks super natural on me. Like me after our honeymoon in Jamaica natural. Hm, I should probably get one done soon...
Ditto the others on exfoliating really really well. Moisturize your elbows, finger joints, ankles, knees, toes, palms of your hands so that the color doesn't go on too strong there. (Confession: I have lines forming on my neck and I also super super super lightly moisturize there so it doesn't sink in the creases.)
