In your experience is the Saturday of Thankafiving a big celebration? Are people away? Considering having a birthday party that day but don't want everyone to be gone. Thoughts? My family doesn't so traditional stuff so I just don't know.
If people travel, they'll be gone all weekend. Our big meal varies based on when people have to work - we usually do Sunday or Monday though. I'd expect you'll get fewer people on any long weekend.
when I first moved up here (14 years ago), I was so thrown off that everyone didn't celebrate T'giving on the actual Monday. My ILs figure out what day works best each year, and plan that way. So, we've had it on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday over the years. maybe try a Saturday morning (10-12) birthday party?
Dinner is either Saturday or Sunday for us depending on everyone's schedules. We usually host so we don't travel but everyone who travels to us stays for the whole weekend.
I think if you are going to have a party on that weekend I would do it Saturday at noon and just expect that not everyone will be able to come.
