1. I have 5 classes this year (1-5) with no break so my principal said the librarian can cover me 2nd period for 15 min to pump and if she's busy the tech teacher will do it. Do you think this will work? I have to pump in the morning at some point or my supply will tank and I won't get enough milk. Will my students know what I'm doing and be weirded out? I'll be in my back room. I'm also concerned about missing that much instructional time with them daily. It's an advanced class with only 8 kids, my smallest class for sure. I'm going to feel so rushed pumping and stressed, which doesn't help output! :(what if no coverage shows up, ugh what a pain!
2. I cleaned my room a ton in June and left a list of projects for the custodians that I couldn't do myself (take down an old spray booth and huge shelf, refinish tables, wax and clean back room floor, take old looms down in the basement). They did such a great job and it looks amazing! I'd like to do something nice for them. What should I do? Bring some sort of treats? What would be good?
I can understand your concerns about #1. Do you have a good relationship with the teachers who'd be covering for you? I don't think your students would necessarily know, but I'd make sure there's a lock on the door, maybe. I feel for you, I remember pumping in my spidery supply cubby (different job) hoping no one would bust in my room.
My custodians were extra awesome this year, too! They never complained about me cleaning out my room and helped move trash for me. I think I'm going to get them goodies from Panera or a bakery with a thank you note. I feel bad though because some are summer only. I might drive it up with Emerson tomorrow so I catch their last day.

1. Ugh, such a sucky schedule. Is 15 minutes really enough for you? I wouldn't be worried about too much instruction time, if they are advanced hopefully they can self direct. I'dDef go to a room with a lock and I'd probably be honest with my students. If this is an every day thing they will eventually begin to wonder.
2. That is so nice of them! I'd do dunks and donuts probably.
Yes the room has a lock thank goodness! I think I will tell them it's a medical reason? I hope 15 min is enough. I can't miss more class it's only 40 min. Pumping at work is so hard.
Bakery is a great idea thanks! Hopefully the summer people will still be there I didn't think of that. There is a Dunkin on the way!

For #1, I think since it's your advanced kids and it is a small class, it should work out ok. That actually sounds like it would be the best class, classroom behavior-wise, to have to take that kind of break every day.
