Well, he likes to drop things behind the couch and he carries around his favourite books quite often, so... lol. I let them be lost for a day or so, but I don't hate any of his current favourites.
Honestly, I hide books pretty quickly if I realize I hate it. We still have a ton of books and he's certajnly not being deprived. when we read each book multiple times before moving on to the next I'm not going to torture myself.
Ha, I've never done this. But I find all of the books annoying if read enough times. J gets stuck on the same books for weeks so it happens all the time.
We use the library a lot, so I rotate new books in and out every few weeks. Sometimes, we return books that she's still obsessed with, but she quickly becomes obsessed with new ones.
We also have bins/shelves of books all over the house. If an extremely irritating book makes it into the pile in her room that we read from every night before bed, I'll sometimes swap it to one of the less used places (the playroom or the living room bin). If she really wants it, she'll go find it and drag it back into my life. Go Dog Go was a favorite for soooo long (and that book is kind of long!), but it fell out of rotation for a while when I moved it to the playroom.

We donate the annoying ones. Anything that makes sound, has weird or rude messages, or is generally dumb gets put in the donate pile. I've been trying to get rid of Blueberries for Sal forever.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is her favorite right now, which is cool with me. But for awhile it was this awful Nemo book that has the picture buttons on the side that you push when the story tells you to, to make different sounds. MIL gave it to her when she was like 8 months. So it was just 15-20 minutes of her pushing button after button. That one "got lost", but unfortunately got found again when we moved and is now in her room and gets pulled out every night. I really need to grab it and put it in the basement playroom.

Yes, this is what we do. He has a couple of truck books that are good for wasting a bunch of bored afternoon time, but terrible bedtime books. They live in the basement now.
I do this too. I would never get rid of a book she loves but I have no problem moving it from the bedroom to the playroom.
I keep joking to E that her Biscuit book is going to the farm. She will pull that one out every.single.night. And it's not a bad book, but it's a compilation of 5 stories and she wants all 5 and I'm just tired of it. Sometimes we can get her to pick out another one.
At this point she's memorized it and just "reads" it to herself.
We have this one "book" (using the term loosely) that was a freebie from Wendy's. It's a Yo Gabba Gabba story about dinosaurs? Omg, Bas would love it if we would read it over and over and over. There's no plot! Uggggggh.
DS has a 5 page Chugginton "book" from Chick-Fil-A. He loves that stupid thing. He asks for "little train book." Blah.

One of my relatives bought DD1 a set of Dora books... THEY ARE SO ANNOYING and pointless. So we made them disappear. Forever. I don't do that lightly, but these books made me do it.

I totally do that. The only one I've actually permanently gotten rid of is Eloise (the one with the little girl who lives at the Plaza) because it was atrocious.
But I absolutely hide ones I don't want to deal with for a while. Or ones that are current favorites but just too damn long to deal with at bedtime.
