Has anyone here received iron infusions?

Did you have any side effects? How long before you started feeling better.
I'm really hoping it helps me feel less drained and less dizzy.

Also, can I crochet while they do it? Where do they stick you?

I've never had one, but I've given them.

You can ask for your IV to be in your hand or forearm so that you can bend at the elbow. Assuming you have decent veins, that should be okay.

It takes an hour to infuse (typically) and a potential side effect is tachycardia. They should give you an info sheet before you get it.

It's tough to say how long before you feel more energized and less dizzy. Everyone absorbs iron differently. Some people need a couple infusions, some 4-8, some are on it chronically. It will depend on your levels.

I had a series of 5 infusions in May/early June. I felt better by the end, but I'm already feeling like crap again. Ask for them to put the IV in your hand so you don't have to keep your arm straight the whole time. I just napped each time.
