We want to take a cruise over Christmas and found a good one at a good price. J has requested the time off but his company is reviewing all PTO requests for that week together and they don't know one. We can book now and get a full refund up until mid September if we have to cancel, after that it would be a partial refund. Should we go ahead and book knowing we may have to cancel or wait knowing price could increase or sell out before we can book?
Are you likely to find out by mid-September whether the time is approved? If so, I'd definitely book now.
H asked and said that she longer they wait the harder it will be for anybody to book travel. They couldn't give him a timeline of when requests would be reviewed.
Book now, you can also get travel insurance through a 3rd party that covers cancelling for work related reasons if you have been employed at the same place for at least a year to cover if you chance it after the Sept date. DH used that when he had a work trip that got rescheduled and it screwed up a vacation.
Book now and make sure to read all the fine print about cancelling. I get not everybody can take off at one time but people don't want to be booking flights, etc. at the last minute for the holidays. Figure your stuff out company!
