I had my meds delivered today and they are different than my cycles for ds. I will be taking gonal-f which I did before but instead of lupron I have ganirelix and dexamethasone which I am not familiar with. Did anyone else use these? Any positive/negative stories?

Lupron and Ganirelex are used somewhat differently. Lupron is usually used at the beginning of a cycle. Ganirelex is used after several days of stimulation to prevent ovulation so more and larger follicles can be grown. We used both in various cycles. No particular side effects from the Ganirelex, but the prefilled syringes don't have great needles, so make sure to stick them quickly and surely.
Dexamethasone is a steroid used to help with implementation. It's oral and not a big deal.

Ganirelix you take a couple days before ER right? I think I had that 2 times. I did it in upper thigh. Iced before but it was the easiest shot. I just hated that I had to do it myself. H did Bravelle and PIO shots for me.
I did ganirelix. I read that it was the worst of all the shots I would do, but I didn't think it was any different than any of the others. I did it in the stomach. I was supposed to do it for 3 days, but my RE wanted to see if some of the smaller follicles would catch up so I ended up having to get more for two extra days. I also took dexamethasone.

I'm doing an iui so I'm not sure of the timing. Lots of questions for my appointment next week! From what I've been googling people seem to have a lot of success with it.
I took Ganirelix on an antagonist protocol for IVF. If you have the smaller gauge needles from the Gonal-F, switch them out. It's not nearly as dull. The shots also made me itch, a lot. It lasted about an hour. The upside is, you're not on it for very long. GL!
I never used a steroid for any of my cycles, but I used ganirelix for IVF. I don't recall anything nasty about it except for it causing what looked and felt like a mosquito bite that lasted about a half hour. And yes, I do remember the needles being dull.
