We had a neighborhood block party around 5 days after J2 was born, and I simply didn't feel up to it, especially in the heat. But if you are I don't see why not.
The midwives warned me at discharge that day 5 is often a hormone crash. One of the midwives told me to make sure I only have people I like around me on day 5, lol.
That being said, I think it'd be fine, provided you're comfortable with NIP if you need to. I took DS to a playground play date with the girls and some friends on day 5 and it was fine, although I was a sweaty mess from wearing him after. He slept most of the time (although I recognize its not quite the same as a concert!).
I have no issue with taking a 5 day old to something like that. I just would have had an issue taking my 5 day post partum self to anything other than the couch.

Skipping it sounds like what you needed to do for today, but I ask my pediatrician, who is also a friend, about this when DD was a baby, born in June in Atlanta, and she said that babies live all the time without air condition all over the world. Growing up, we had a beach house without AC, all my cousins and I survived. The heat is not a big deal, even when it reaches close to 100. She also said she would much rather a newborn go anywhere in open air than in an air conditioned space (mall, restaurant, etc), since the air is less likely to have germs. When you look at other countries, you see that they leave babies outside a lot more often than we do. It makes sense, over recirculated air.

It's moot now anyway as you didn't go, but I wouldn't because 71 degrees in my air conditioned house is still too hot. 100 degrees outside sounds hideous.
Also, I have oversupply and have to nurse lying down otherwise he chokes and spews.
Also, at 5 days out I only wanted to sit in a sitz bath or on a soft pillow.
How are you feeling? If you're up for a concert, I'm presuming pretty good?

Hey! How is your N doing?! You doing ok?
I'm doing well I think. I'm trying to be less tragic than the first time around
Sometimes I wish id attempted VBAC just to have an easier recovery. This time is hell but my goal is to stroller walk for 20min tomorrow
Both kids are good. We think N has laryngomalacia, which may mean meds to help deal with reflux or eventually surgery, but that's worst case scenario. Many (most?) kids outgrow it and he's eating well.
Emotionally I am awesome. Physically not so much. I have this bad cough that won't go away, so I'm headed back to the doctor today.
Good luck with the stroller walk! You're a badass!

In my case a 20 minute stroller walk within 2 weeks post partum was not fun. Vaginal birth recovery can suck too. Walking made me very sore at first. Really my midwives told me to stay in bed for 2 weeks to recover. I think a lot of people try to do to much to soon.
