I love my ILs but they always want to order hamburglar pizza. Like just pizza with ground beef. It's so random.
I also never understand people who stress about how much pizza to order for a party. Order more than you think you need. It's cheap. If you have leftovers THAT IS NOT A PROBLEM.
Yeah, that's a little odd. I think the size would bother me much more than his desire to go sit there while they made it, though. I know my H could eat a medium by himself. Heck, I could - I just wouldn't. But for 3 adults and a child? Ugh.
H plays poker with a guy who always says to just order cheese, but when someone orders cheese and then anything else, the guy always eats from the pizza with toppings. Unacceptable!
I'm pretty sure it has been scientifically proven that you should always get a bigger pizza. It is less expensive than having to order a second pizza and it will always get eaten later. Weirdo.

Is it an old people thing? My parents never order enough pizza. One time over Christmas I practically begged for more pizza. They kept saying, "That'sgoing to be too much!" but went along with it. Yeah, I think there were maybe 2 slices left. It was the first time I wasn't still hungry after eating pizza at their house.
We ordered papa johns the other night and they had a code for half off so I just ordered a ridiculous amount since there's nothing better than leftover pizza.
My dad and his girlfriend were coming over to watch the kids while DH and I went to a meeting at DD's school. I ordered a large pepperoni (DH and the kids) a medium meat lovers (my dad) and then a large chicken veggie for me and dad's gf. Plus breadsticks lol. I've been eating pizza leftovers for three days, no joke. And it was all like $30 total, very mm .
I don't think my parents have ever had a pizza delivered. My dad goes and picks it up. He's not the type that likes to hole up in the house though - he always has to be doing something.
When my family gets together there is usually a fight over who gets to go pick up the pizza. Immediate family is 20 people with 50% of that number being in the six and under crowd. The only way to get any peace is to leave everyone else behind and take your time while doing it.
This reminds me of the time H and I moved into our first apartment. We were 19 and sophmores in college. His sister came over to see the place and we decided to order dinner. H ordered a SMALL pizza from Papa Gino's (for anyone that lives around here).
I still will not let him live that one down. I mean seriously H?! Back then he could have eaten a large himself! Now he is constantly telling me how he has become the designated pizza orderer for work because he does such a great job at getting the right kinds and the right amount. Whatever H you still ordered a small for 3 adults including your college self!!
My ILs are terrible about food quantities anyway, but AWFUL with pizza. They'll order one large thin crust for all of us. My kids ate an entire medium last night.
We used to like going with my dad to pick up the pizza. It was thin crust cut into squares and on the way home we'd snitch all the little crusty, crunchy "corners."
My ILs won't eat pizza that's just been delivered. It has to go back in the oven to "heat up", and that's where it remains while we eat. If you want more, it has to come from the oven.

DSs last party we basically sent guests home with favors of a box of pizza.
My mom desperately wants my dad to diet, but he won't. So whenever we order pizza she suggests crazy quantities too. Like 1 large for 4 adults and 2 kids. Umm no. I know you only want him to have 1 piece, but the rest of us are not going to starve.
My ILs love this place that sells uncooked pizza that you have to pick up and then cook at home. Not frozen pizza from the grocery store, it's fresh. So basically they like the worst of both worlds - having to cook it yourself, and having to order and pick it up. They think this pizza tastes way better but it so doesn't.
We're ordering pizza right now and will probably get two so we have leftovers for tomorrow. It's just and H eating the pizza tonight. LOL
I hate weirdness around ordering pizza with a group!
We always order too much pizza. My parents come over and we order 2 larges. (I think our larges must be smaller than yours). My husband and I can eat 4 slices each. My daughter eats 1-2. That's one pizza. My parents act like they aren't hungry and eat 1-3 slices. What?!

My ils do this too. Who eats plain ground beef on pizza with no other toppings? Mine both live in Iowa, maybe it's a regional thing. I always make them order a separate pizza for us with real toppings.
I went to pick our pizza and calzone up tonight because the delivery wait time was insane and it's only 1.5 miles from our house. (I called in to order.)

People who have special orders then want the plain pepperoni or whatever are the worst.
Also, people who think everyone will only eat 1 or 2 pieces. What is this, amateur hour?

I was going to say my in laws do this too. And they are from Iowa. They try to order it in NJ and my husband overrides them. I don't know if you can get that here.
Sometimes we get pizza from this coal oven, cash only place near us. The last time we ordered, as far as I knew, 1 large and 1 medium with veggie toppings on the whole thing and meat toppings on half of the large pizza. I park in the parking lot and get $40 out which should be enough but then I reach back in and get another $20 because what if it's $41? I don't want to have to return to the car.
It was nearly the entire $60. Because my husband had told them to put the toppings on both and the toppings are super expensive when done on each pie. While delicious, I had to come home and be like $60 for 2 pizzas is not MMM! The second one was only a medium! I get wanting toppings, but next time we order 1 with all the toppings and the other one plain!!!!**
**Unless MIL is paying. Then he can order whatever he wants.

Also wtf is with the taco pizza.
One time fil and his wife were visiting and stayed at a hotel. They ordered a pizza with ground beef on it from room service and received a pizza with quartered hamburger patties on it. Haha! They were baffled that the hotel couldn't accommodate their pizza order. ummm ...because it's a weird thing to order.

We had papa murphy's last night. 2 family size for 3 adults and 3 kids. Just enough left over for breakfast. I don't understand this medium pizza business.

I have so much anxiety from reading this thread! Who knew pizza was such a hot button issue?
Seriously though, when my family gets together at my parents, we order our favorite local pizza, and my parents are always like "one XL should do it!" It's for 8 people, and it's super thin crust. NO. We order my parents their wimpy medium to share, and get two XLs for the rest of us.
Also, in other group pizza situations, why is there always some jerk who claims to eat anything, and then when the pizza comes, only wants to eat all my plain cheese? I won't eat meat on pizza, so in group situations, i either want veggie or plain cheese. Go away, carnivores!
We do pizza takeout sometimes, because it's within walking distance. Score one for city life.
As a kid, "hamburglar" pizza was my favorite. Now I have more refined tastes.
ILs are obsessed with one or two specialty pizzas from a local chain (Tutta Bella), but that's okay because it's AMAZING and there's no location near our house so it's a sometimes treat.
