I'm awake because a thunderstorm woke me up. I have such bad anxiety about some stuff that is going on at work. It doesn't have anything to do with me personally but affects my entire small department and I really don't want to be around it. I'm considering resigning over it. I already have a second interview somewhere else on weds but I'm not sure that is a good fit yet. I also have a couple leads for doing consulting type work for a couple places. I hate things like this.
130am and I'm up pumping! H took the "early shift" so YAY for a nice 4 hour stretch of sleep! I just woke up to take over but the baby just ate so hopefully I can get another 1-2 hour nap in.
How is pumping going?
We are on the 2nd wakeup, but it is after 4 so no idea if he will go back to sleep. I really hope he does as another 2 hours of skeep would be lovely

Glad it is going OK. I am glad you are in a better place regardless.
DS2 is super loud too. He sleeps in his crib which makes me kind of sad, but we weren't grating any sleep. You really should try to get naps during the day. They are lovely. I try to sleep from 2-4 each day. It helps in the evening.
DH snored so bad tonight. A new snore sound too, the classic "snuhhhh" punctuated by a loud whistle-y "zeeee" at the end. Lovely.
DD slept 11-5 and woke up starving. She tried to eat my shoulder as we walked from the changing table to the glider. She hasn't done that since she was a newborn!
DH just finished a diaper change and now I'm nursing. I've realized that she has a shallow latch on the left side and I'm not sure how to fix it. I have a hard time breaking her latch (I could never really master breaking DS's latch either). It hurts when she latches on and my nipple is creased when she's done. I'll ask the pedi Monday at her 2 week appt.

I always slid my pointer finger or thumb in between my nipple and their mouth and kind of lifted up on the upper gum. (I have 2 kids who have to be cut off from eating or we have baby barf evvvvvverywhere.)
Everyone else is asleep. I woke up at 1:30 and couldn't fall back to sleep. I am hoping for a nap later.
What I would do to get a 4 hour stretch of sleep, I don't think I've had one since before dd was born.
I don't know what's going on, but lately she has trouble nursing on my left side. She keeps pulling off after just a second or two, and coming right back on. I try holding her on, no go. Making boob sandwich, nada. I know my left doesn't produce as much as my right, and has slower let down, but she's never done this before. It's getting annoying :/

It's weird having a normal newborn. Did you wake to feed in the hospital? Nurse is having me but I want to sleeeeep. I think we'll intro the paci tomorrow.

Most of the time people wake to feed until the baby is back to birth weight. Also babies tend to be less sleepy as they get older and often start waking up on their own.

Yes. I had to wake the baby to feed him every 2 hours until my milk came in strong, then every 3 hours until he hit his birth weight, which was 10 days for DS, I think.
Last night was the best night DS has had this week. Went down at 9, up at 12:30 and 3:15, then up at 6:30 for the day. So 8 hours total sleep, which might be a record. It still seems low for a two-month old though. Aren't they supposed to sleep more? He usually only sleeps 6-7 hours a night.

Yes, we were told to wake her every 3 hours until she was back to her birth weight.

Can you pull her chin down once she is latched. Will not break latch but should force wider latch.
So DS2 slept till 555 after I put him back in his crib. Then I brought him into our bed and he is still sleeping. I just woke up.
Thanks sjh722 and karinothing. I'll try your suggestions. I've been trying to pull her upper lip out but that hasn't worked so well.
Has she been checked for ties? The blanched nipple is a classic sign. Hope you're not in too much pain. A shallow latch is the worst.
I mentioned the latch to the lactation consultant Friday (I go to a bf-ing group at the hospital in Fridays) and she thought it might just be her anatomy but she's not the nurse that is usually there. I will bring it up to the pedi at her 2 week appt tomorrow.
We were up every 2 hours all night long. But she slept in the bassinet 80% of the time instead of our bed, so I'm calling that a win. I elevated one side of the bassinet matress and lined it with the shirt I wore yesterday so she smells me and that seemed to help.
