Yes. I was induced at 41w2d (my doctor wasn't thrilled with the NST results, otherwise she would have let me go a bit longer). I wanted to avoid pitocin for as long as possible, and went into the induction with no progress. Cervix closed, hard, high station, no dilation. They started me with misoprostol (Cytotec) to get some dilation, then moved to the Foley balloon catheter to improve dilation. Yadda yadda yadda, my water broke at ~5 AM on a Wednesday and E was born vaginally ~4 AM Thursday after a few pushes. There were some other issues along the way, including him being sunny-side-up, that prolonged labor. There was pitocin at the end; probably last 3 hours? Can't remember. Anyway, labor was rough enough on me without the pitocin, so I was happy with my choice.
I didn't have pitocin with my 2 inductions. They broke my water to induce labor, and contractions and labor were very quick after. I was completely effaced and dilated to 4 both times. I don't know that my story helps here though. Did her water break?
I think my experience was similar to catbus (down to sunny side up baby) but after 14ish hours of no progress I got pitocin and an epi an hour after that. I ended up with a c/s but it was mostly my choice since I still had no progress and DS was having heart decels.
This may help speed things up but I'd wait as long as possible on this. When they broke my water with K I was already 7/8cm but it turned normal labor into hell. The pain is much, much, worse.
My sil was. Cervadil, cytotec, and eventually pitocin. She laboured for almost 3 days. It did end with a successful vaginal delivery and her baby's head is off the charts big.
Doctors obviously have years of training and experience so I'm sure there was logic to their decision, but damn. From and outsider looking it, it seemed like a shit show.
That could help. I didn't get pitocin until after 24 hours of no progress with Cervadil, but at the time they gave me pitocin I had just gotten the epi and then they broke my water after the epi was all good. It is possible I wouldn't have needed the pitocin because breaking my water for things rolling quickly but I went with it as a last-ditch effort before a c-section. I did deliver vaginally so that combo worked despite the Cervadil failure. However, DD was measuring pretty average the whole time and didn't have a big head (she came out at 7.7, although my OB was the one who predicted that weight just by feeling my belly; the u/s predicted 8.5 pounds).
I was induced at 40 weeks for pre-e (normal bp but really high protein my my urine). I wasn't dialated at all but I was having contractions. I couldn't feel them but they were In the monitor. I got a dose of cytotec around 11p or so (1/4 pill I think) and another dose 4 hrs later. I started having contractions (that I could feel) after the second dose and my water broke an hour or so after the second dose. They stated me on pitocin in the morning around 7 or 8a. Epi around noon and DS was born just before 5p.
Yes just cytotec with my 2nd but it went fast. I had one dose at 8pm no change by midnight so they gave a 2nd dose and then he was here by 4am. How dilated Is she?
With DS1 they were planning on giving me pitocin, but the cervadil was all it took. But I had been contracting regularly on my own, just not dilated at all.
With DS2 I had cytotoxic and pitocin and it was hell. He did not respond well to the pitocin and they had to keep turning it off every 30 minutes or so because it would cause his heart rate to decel. Hopefully your sister's labor kickstarts on its own soon!

Good luck to her! My sister had a 4 day induction that eventually ended in a c section due to my niece's head size. Skipping those multiple days and tons of attempts and exhaustion sounds good!
Me. I went in at 40 weeks even. I was already contracting regularly but didn't know it.
I was given cytotec to start since I was 1.5cm, 50% effaced. First dose at 9pm, second dose at 1am. The second dose was what did it. My water broke naturally a couple of hours after the second dose. I was contracting every 2-3 minutes by that time. Got my epi at 5am. My OB checked me at 7:30am and I still had a regular contraction pattern and was 5cm, so we skipped the pitocin. I was complete an hour later, and DS was born at 9:16am. All in all, it took 12 hours. Probably would have been faster if he hadn't been sunny-side up. He ended up being 7#3 and 25th percentile for his head.

Yes, with my med-free hospital birth with dd2 I had AROM at 6 cm to induce labor, but "labor" didn't start until later after taking a hot shower with the hope it would jump start labor. I was 7 cm when I got into the shower. She was born 32 minutes after "labor" started. I had experienced mild BH contractions 15 minutes before that, but I did not think "This is it!!!" until 20ish minutes after getting out of the shower.
I was also induced for both homebirths, but used alternative induction methods for both.

I was given cervadil and cytotec and eventually was given pitocin. My water broke and I had no contractions at all for a very long time. My son was born 37 hours after my water broke and I was 40 weeks, 5 days.
With my DD I also had pictocin and cervadil. I asked them to break my water because things were so slow. I was 41 weeks, 5 days and having unproductive contractions and hadn't slept for days.
Everyone is good! He was 8lbs 11oz with a MASSIVE head that was pretty stuck in there per the doctor. (Whether she's just saying that or not we don't care. lol)

I was an elective induction at 38.5 weeks and I was only 1 cm going in. I had 3 dose of Cytotec, last at 4 am. My water broke at 5 and DD was born at 8 am. No pitocin needed and I was a first time mom also.
I was induced with cytotec only. The plan was to do 2-3 doses of cytotec spaced four hours apart and move onto pit if necessary.. We never got that far.
I got the first dose at 9pm. By 2am labor was in full swing and we decided against a second dose. I was ready to push at 5am and had baby just before 8am.
I was 40+2 and my water had been broken for awhile when we started the induction which might have been why it moved so fast.
