The "big deal" food at the Washington State fair are these awful dry scones that for some reason people go nuts over. I had them one year, and I was like, "WTF is this stupid dry biscuit, and why did I forgo an elephant ear for this??"
I didn't think the bacon was very good. We had corn, cheese curds (2 orders), deep fried Snickers, deep fried pickles stuffed with cream cheese, all you can drink milk, a blueberry malt, and mini donuts.
@koko, if you're looking for the mac and cheese cupcake, they're in west end. On my list for Thursday!
Going three times this year, and did have the Tikka which was fab. Also the butter chicken samosas. Mmmmm. I didn't have cheese curds or the foot long corn dog, but did have some good beer.

See, this is why when people are like, "ugh, the Midwest, there's nothing there, it's so boring," I respond with, "WHAT'S THAT? I can't hear you over this elephant ear that I'm stuffing in my maw and chewing vigorously before washing down with sweet sugary lemonade!"
My hometown fair was shady as hell, but I went several times every year for the fair food.#commmitmenttothecause

Wait. Stuffed fried pickles? I must have these.
They are amazing. Washed down with a mini donut beer, of course.
