Which did you use and why? Do you think it makes a difference in the long run?
Brought to you by my mom (who watches our 9 mo old DS during the day) telling me she hates the hard spout ones we have been offering for the past couple of months because he will sometimes dribble water out the sides of his mouth, and they drip if he flips it over. Neither of these things bother me and I think it seems like just part of the learning process. He seems to like them okay, they are just messier I guess, but he's excited when I offer it to him and seems to be getting the hang of it.
A lot of the no spill ones seem like they are practically just bottles with handles that still need to be sucked, unless I'm missing something? What's the reasoning that this is better than using a bottle as he gets older?
We do the nuk soft spout for milk and the first years disney straw cups for water.
These are LITERALLY the only two cups on the planet she'll use. I've bought every single other kind. Literally.
I'm working to ditch the nuk ones because they're very close to bottles (she was a bottle ADDICT) and she chews the tops off when she's teething so they spill (not leak) milk.
My mom actually bought a Nuk one that she wanted to start using. I'm afraid if we start giving DS these he'll refuse the others now because I'm sure he'll like it better.
We started with the Nuby soft spout, then the straw cups. Now he uses the munchkin 360 cups. He uses a hard spout at daycare. I say use whatever he will drink out of.

When did he start the 360? My kids are 10 mos and can't figure it out. I wondered if that was too young.
I did not put much thought into this. Day care used cheap take n toss ones, so I bought those as well. That's what he used.
Now he uses a small open cup.
I've been using the cheap Take n Toss ones too. DS seems to like them, and bonus that they are easy to wash, store, and assemble without a million parts.

I want to say around 14 months. That's when I introduced him to it, not sure if he could have used it earlier.
