With the drama of moving this week I completely forgot about my event at work tomorrow. Said event is on campus, right by my house and I'll be done around 2-3ish. ;D
I don't have to come back into the office. So I'm making plans to borrow my mom's car (she works on campus) to visit a few places tomorrow afternoon. Whew.
I've also decided that I'm definitely getting a place just me. I ran some numbers last night and feel comfortable signing a lease for a place $700/including utilities. Additionally, I'm not having much luck finding roommates because everything in my area is being snagged up really quickly.
So that's today's update on my moving drama.
Thanks for listening/letting me complain the last 3 days. I promise it will be over soon.
Good luck. And based on the salary you posted I think $700 should be manageable. I spent slightly more when I had a similar salary and I also had student loans to pay. I also can't stand roommates and love having my own space. I hope you find something great.
Thanks! It's manageable but I'm giving up a lot of what I want which is frustrating. I tried to push back with my landlord and it's just too much drama. So I need to find something quickly which means I won't get everything I want.
But I'm happy that I can afford to live on my own. I'll make it work.
I've lived on my own before. This isn't anything new. It's just finding something in 9 days and having it be a good fit for me and the landlords is a little frustrating. If I had more time I would be able to find what I want. Unfortunately, I don't.

Good luck with finding a decent place. I'm sure you will be happier without landlord drama and/or roommate drama...even if it means sacrificing some square footage and other perks.
ETA: Did you try pushing for 30 days with your landlord? Is he still being a bigdouchebag?

Yes, I tried to push back and he's just a fucking douche. I reached out to an attorney friend for some real back up. I'm going to let him reach out to my landlord and see what he can do.
I'm honestly just hoping I can find something before this weekend. I'm looking at 2 places tonight. There's another that is available Sept 3rd, so I might look into that one also.
I'm checking CL and KSL every hour for new postings. There aren't very many in my area because they were all snatched up for school. Ugh. I'm staying positive though.
I don't have that kind of support from my parents. That's not an option.
Why not? What's the back story there?
Eh, it's a long story I'd rather not share here. Basically, nothing I do is ever good and/or important enough to my parents. I finally had to just stop trying and walk away.
It's been rough but overall I'm happier. And I don't have nearly as much anxiety about certain issues.
I can't recall...is moving closer to work an option?
No, it is not an option. The area near my work is suburbs and much more expensive for a 1 bed. There's also not a ton of roommate options out here. And public transit is still terrible.
Moving closer to work would cause more issues; carpooling, more expensive, etc.
I also just realized that getting my own places means I'm going to have to buy a bunch of new stuff. Ugh. I've got stuff to get me by and I'll slowly add over the next few months. But stupid things like garbage can, a new cooking pot, some kitchen items, and a shower curtain.
How much should I budget for these kinds of items? $100? $150?
Which reminds me, I'm still not adjusted to being paid weekly and it's screwing with me.
Oh yes, I'm definitely hitting up Dollar Tree! What, what?!!
But I want to budget more just in case I'm forgetting stuff. I got rid of most my furniture, household items last August because I was planning on leaving the state. I am getting furniture from friends and such, so that's a bonus.
