I told my husband that I don't care how cheap the flights are, I'm not flying an airline I have never heard of and certainly not one called 'wow'. All I can think is 'wow! We actually landed this one!'
Now that I know they are Icelandic, that gives them several extra points. My recent layover in Reykjavik was one of the most pleasant, least-stressful layovers of my life, and that was with two small kids in tow and no other adult to assist me.
They're new to the US but they're definitely a legitimate airline. They do nickle and dime you for everything from picking your own seat to a regular sized carry-on though.
We haven't used them yet but plan to in the next year or so. Dirt cheap tickets to Europe from our home airport? Yes please! I was very tempted by $350 tickets to Copenhagen over MH's b'day next month but we have too many other financial obligations coming up.
One of my really good friends flew them in June from DC to Berlin via Reykjavik. He had a really pleasant experience, but ditto everyone else that it is basic and they do nickel and dime you. I know he would fly them again.
Thanks all! I'm always hesitant to fly a 'new' airline but I'm glad to hear some have had good experiences.
The price difference to Paris is about $150 per ticket, so not a ton but we are still going to shop around for a while since the trip isn't for 7 months.
