Still feel like I've been hit by a truck. I ended up going to a walk in clinic, they said my tonsils are swollen but the flu test was negative so it's probably just some sort of virus. I was thinking it was mastitis, but now H has the same thing so probably not.
We are headed to the beach! We are pulling a trailer full of stuff. I hate when we pull a trailer bc I always have horrible fears it will all fall out.

I am thrilled because we are seeing the pediatric dentist for DD's possible lip and tongue ties tomorrow! I couldn't get an appt until next Wednesday but told them to let me know if they had a cancellation as I could come in anytime. So they called today with an opening tomorrow morning!! Hopefully this means 5 fewer days of pumping and bottle feeding!!
Also a very close friend stopped by today so it was nice to vent to her. And another close friend and her family are driving in from out of state tomorrow and staying a night with us. I'm excited to see them!
Last day of daycare was rough. So many tears! I am looking forward to Montessori; i know it's time and he needs it, but he's been at his dcp since he was 5 months and they were so good with him
My parents and brother are coming to visit for the weekend and should be here in about an hour. My parents haven't seen DS in over a month, and this will be the first time my brother will meet DS. I can't wait. My parents are going to be blown away by how big DS has gotten. And I'm looking forward to sleeping in because my mom will take the baby after his 6:00 wake-up!
DD2 had random hives all over her body this morning. She ate breakfast and everything was normal, but as she walked away from the table I noticed her back was all pink. She went to change her pull-up (because she changes herself when it's just pee.. I need to potty train her like NOW but that is another story) and she came back and I looked at her and there were HUGE hives all over her back. They spread quickly to her thighs and up to her shoulders and face. I have a history of food allergy and several friends who have kids with serious anaphylactic allergies so it freaked me out. They calmed down with hydrocortisone and Benadryl but it was still really upsetting. Nothing has changed in her diet or environment so I am hoping it was a fluke, especially since I leave tomorrow for a trip through Monday.
Then this afternoon I turned my back on her for two minutes and she managed to fall off a dining room chair and whack her forehead on the table and now she has a giant nasty bump and I feel like a shitty mother for not keeping a closer eye on her. I also couldn't make a trip to Costco that I desperately needed to make because she was so upset and I wanted to watch her for signs of concussion.
Finally, I am traveling to Denver tomorrow for 3 Phish shows. I found a really cheap flight on Frontier today that gets into Denver 3 hours earlier than my current United flight, so I booked it (I was supposed to get in at 4:19 PM for a concert that should start around 8 PM, so that's cutting it a little close, and the Frontier ticket was $65 and gets in at 1:30). Well, when I called United to cancel, they said they would charge me a $200 "change fee" NOT to take my flight, even though I would be leaving a seat open for someone else to buy. What the actual fuck?! And if I don't show up for the flight at all they will automatically cancel my return ticket. Fortunately Frontier has much better customer service and gave me a non-expiring credit for the flight I booked. I will definitely be avoiding United in the future.
So nothing catastrophic but it hasn't been a great day and I really just feel on edge and jangly for some reason. I'm excited about my weekend of concerts but I also sort of wish I wasn't leaving town tomorrow. :^)
@vicmo why can't you have vegetarian sushi now? I had veggie and cooked sushi while pregnant.
We just hoovered a BBQ chicken pizza and are headed to the shore pretty soon. DD1's 3rd bday is Saturday and we are hoping to hit up the beach in the morning and the boardwalk/rides after nap. DH and I hope to squeeze in a bike ride during nap if my MIL is willing to watch the girls.
I made my own lactation cookies this week and they turned out pretty good, but I definitely will not cut back the brown sugar next batch. I'm already seeing improvements in the thickness and volume of milk I've been pumping after 3 days! I need to find the recipe for the ones I made with DD1. They were so damn good.
My 9 yr old has been breaking out in random hives since this summer. I don't know for sure what's causing hers either. There doesn't seem to be a pattern or anything. I probably need to get her into an allergist. She went several weeks without any, but broke out again last night.
Yeah. I definitely need to get her in to the ped and see about getting a referral for an allergist (we are on an HMO). She had eczema as a baby, as well as MSPI, but she has had all the hot button allergen foods safely, many times. I still don't like what happened to her today though. It was a BIG reaction. I am going to worry about her a lot while I am away, even though I know she will be in competent hands with H. I have already discussed with him not to give her ANY unfamiliar foods AT ALL while I am gone. Or even unfamiliar brands of foods. We just don't need some kind of allergy emergency while he is solo parenting.
I'm sorry you are going through this too. As a lifelong allergy sufferer---ALLERGIES SUCK.
Bas is having, like, one prolonged evening meltdown from 4:30-7pm every day. I'm pretty sure it's from the moving stress and new daycare stress but omg kid omg.
Sits with @vicmo. Meltdown from the moment we walked in the door. Not surprising since there were 11 names on the "good sleeper" list today. I'll let you guess which name wasn't on the list. (swizz)
I threatened bed at 6, but she agreed to drink some juice and milk (refused dinner) so that bought her 20 more minutes. Then she started screaming "go away!" so bedtime was 6:30.
My nephew was born and died today. They had a few precious hours with him. I just found out he passed while we were on the plane to try to make it here before he died. I am so, so sad for my SIL and H's brother. Please send prayers their way.
t - what recipe do you use for your lactation cookies? I bought ingredients today to make some based on a recipe I used before, but always open to new ones!

I'm at the library GBCNing while DS plays. I successfully didn't buy him a toy he wanted at Costco and I'm proud of myself. I went looking for a costume but they were already out of the one I want.

Ds loves to watch the kinder surprise eggs videos on YouTube before bed. Tonight we stumbled on a video of a baby doll in a bathtub being covered in skittles. They are pretending to wash the baby with the skittles. It's so, so weird. krystee so sorry for your loss
DH wasn't going to go into work tomorrow but they delivered a bunch of tech equipment into his classroom today and now it's a mess so he has to go tomorrow to re-clean.
I CAN'T BELIEVE SUMMER IS OVER. My kids were a shitshow today and I had to deal with them all by myself and it sucked. I love them to bits but raising kids is so fucking exhausting. I really want a glass of wine.
We just got home about an hour ago from the MN State Fair. We were there almost 9 hours with a 30 minute stroller nap for C. Amazingly, he was in such good spirits despite the lack of nap. However, he definitely threw up on himself after eating cookies and some chocolate milkshake. Moty.
I'm so tired and slightly sunburned and really wishing I had tomorrow off like H does.
