P is seeing an orthotist tomorrow to see if a helmet is appropriate to treat his head shape. She comes highly recommended and even though his case is kind of rare we are doing this with the blessing of his neurosurgeon and plastic surgeon.
Anything I should ask that I might not have thought of?

I would ask what amount of success they expect to see by doing the helmet, how long he should wear it, if they expect him to just need one helmet (some kids need more than one throughout the process and your insurance may not pay for another). Good luck! It was much harder on us than on J. He could have cared less.
- experience with post-surgical babies (with give you insight into how often they treat atypical cases) - if they suggest a helmet, push to get started ASAP, so ask about insurance processing, etc. (sooner you start the more efficient the brand is) - if he may benefit from one, what are the chances of needing a second? - if they do digital imaging at this office like they do at Cranial Technologies, snap some pictures of the TV or computer screen ones his scans / images are up so you can view them at home after the fact
Just general care. I was surprised to find out how hot they can get in the helmet, especially since it was summer and I live in a hot climate. We eventually just ended up putting them (both boys had helmets) to bed in just a diaper. I was especially annoyed cuz I had just bought them a bunch of PJ's.

All of this. It was truly NBD for Cora and never affected her sleep nor did she even seem to care.
Good luck! And if you do end up getting one, contact Wrapbuddies.com to pimp it out!
He gets a night brace for his hand tomorrow, so this is good to hear!
I talked with the orthotist on the phone to make sure I wouldn't be wasting her time. If we do do a helmet he has a pretty difficult shape to correct, plus fusions, so she was a bit reserved--but I've heard tons of people rave about her.
